VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - The ghosts and goblins are emerging from their hiding places for what should be another frightful Halloween this weekend. Just to be on the safe side, News1130 got some tips from the pros to make sure the only blood you see this October 31st is of the fake variety.
Besides the usual common sense warnings, Captain Gabe Roder with the Vancouver Fire Department advises that you need to be aware of the law as well.
Roder explains the only time you can legally set off fireworks is on Halloween itself. "What happens is that if we come across somebody who is using fireworks illegally, we can't fine them, but we'll confiscate the fireworks."
Retailers are also being put on notice as well. If they're caught selling fireworks illegally or to a minor, they may lose their license to sell them in future years.
