我之前都有個朋友想買，話見到FS做緊$849
但我問佢其實佢係唔係真係想用咁多錢買部相機，但最後佢無答我啦.......
因為我唔知一支kit鏡可以滿足到你幾耐啦，一玩開就可能會身痕想換鏡，加加埋埋條數有排計
我依o的妹妹仔買咗兩支OK o既鏡，支支都幾百幾百。我買時都肉赤o架........但其實對好多用家o黎講都只係少數目，依度都有唔少有米o既師兄~~ 買買下，腳架，閃光燈，又幾舊水.........T-T

另外而家dslr都變得好大眾化，好多人都有
但用到幾多功能or有幾多功能真係用得著就真係唔知lu.......
因為唔係個個都真係對影相有興趣
dslr係需要花多少少時間去摸索 (話說我摸索咗3年都只係識o的皮毛.....)
如果唔係就可能貴少少o既細DC已經足夠，S95好似都唔錯，琴日借過朋友部S90玩

In general, 550D is one best overall DSLR for under $700, and 60D is one best for under $1K .. ( again, some Sony DSLR bodies are probably better, but not the system)

If your friend is going to use the kit lens only, I say go for thoes EVIL cameras. Cheaper and smaller. It is easier to carry them all the time and he will enjoy it more.

If your frined eventually is going to buy more lens and really getting into photography, D700. Why waste money/time for upgrade after upgrade?

I am thinking the other way, if mostly stick with kit lens, then D3100/500D/550D vs NEX3/NEX5 .. not much different, other then NEX kit is much cheaper.

NEX3 + 18-55 kit lens, not that much smaller then D3100+kit .. Picture quality will be close, those NEX system is decent in quality, if you don't mind the look.

Lots of lens to choose for the NEX (adaptor, no AF) of course, lots of great lens for 550D as well, and D3100 etc. ( no af )

Living in Canada, size may not be the problem, if in HK, then carry the NEX (or GF1/2) is nice, just put it in your purse, but here, will use camera bag anyway, just throw to the trunk.

The camera is just a tool. It will NOT make your photos look good simply because it is a bigger camera than your DC. Do you have any plans to actually spend some time and learn some of the very basics of photography? If you are gonna be lazy about it, then you'll only end up stimulating the economy.

Don't get me wrong, I always say the NEX is a good system for price, but small size in Canada, not big deal ... ( well, I am sure size does matter in other thing .. lol )

Missed the NEX deal from Dell, will just pick a set from HK.

28 1.4D is a great lens, but it is for collect rather then to use, and I am not a big fan for buying collectable lens.

24 1.4AFS is a good lens, it is sharp too, as sharp as the Canon 24.4, however, for those kind of lens, I think Bokeh is more important, and somehow, all the new Nikon lens, are not doing that great in Bokeh. (ie: I think the 85D has better Bokeh then 85G, even the 85G is sharper @ 1.4)

If you won't have much gear yet, and I assume you are a girl..

550D is pretty good, $999 with 2 lens (18-55/55-250) then add a 50mm F1.8 ( ~ $130) and a 430 flash light ~ $350 (or whatever) then you are good to go..

So.. ~ $1500, decent package, good range, great camera and low cost.

Don't think professional grade cameras are perfect! Even so called professional cameras, there are professional photographers still complaining for some issues, those cameras still have lots of room to get improved.
A beginner level DSLR is good for a newbie to start, if you really want to learn about DSLR. In fact, if you don't know much about DSLR and you don't spend some time to learn, any prosumer camera can take much better pictures than a DSLR.

I bought my 400D (XTi) 3 years ago when I was a student and only worked part time at Daiso earning at min. wage....LOL

bought in HK for $5680 with the "regular" extra stuff included like extra battery, tripod, bag.....

costed me an arm and a leg.......

I love my camera. This is exactly what I was looking for~!

but then I don't know what other things are you going to get after buying the kit lor....it's a very 無底深譚 ar.....

As a basic idea even trying to use the cheaper stuff:
for myself in 3 years I bought 4 lenses, all USED (2 were the very cheap ones! together were like a bit more than $200), then after using them for 3 years I finally moved on to L lenses.....(but the one I chose were already the more affordable ones).....together were like $1200......

also got my camera backpack, about $5XX HKD

Hesitated for very long in getting a good tripod and external flash
finally my bf was good enough to get me a manfrotto tripod for christmas (I think should be somewhere less than $200.....)
and I still need my flash!!! Used ones are around $2xx- $3xx depending which model.....

sigh.....
so much to buy +_+

Who told you that a 10MP can't take real good photo in large print??

How big of a printout you are looking for? It depends on the ISO setting and the lens you are using...

BTW, in Canada, Canon only provide 1 year manufacturer warranty. Does it fit what you need? If you are those C9 who will drop the cams 3 or 4 times annually, I beg no DSLR warranty will help you... haha...

2 years ago, I used a $200 DC for almost 5 years... At that time being I thought people spending that much of money on photographic equipments are "dumbs".

But when I started using DSLR, I have switched between 15 lens already. Currently I possess around $5K in equipments and still keep digging into the hole...

. However, I'm happy

with what I've spent so far.

For body .. which depreciate more .. but good to buy new, as electronic item, just safe to have warranty.

Lens, it is ok to buy used, rarely hv problem, but then they dont depreciate as much as body..

I bought new body, but usually buy the "KIT" then sell the lens off, so that can lower the price for the body a bit, and then I am selling brand new lens for lower price, easy too.

Just a hint, Canon/Nikon, their warranty is not transferable, and unlike HK, shops here usually put your name on the receipt. (or you can ask them not to)

Flash light, I do suggest to buy new too, as you dont know the life time on it, so it could die anytime .. ( can more or less see from the condition gei .. just not as simple as lens )

For newer lens, pretty much only thing can go wrong is the internal motor, (AFS) and could be expensive. Not common problem on Canon, (I have owned some Canon lens for more then 20 yr, not problem) but say Sigma, and some early AFS from Nikon, their motors are not that reliable.

after I buy all Warranty when I can...
the 2nd DC was borken like 4 times with in the warranty
so they just replaced mi a new 1
the 3rd DC lost lol

My 1st Mp3 from china die ... cant do anything
My 2nd Mp3 w/ BEstbuy die in a yr $100
they FULL refund mi =) the mp3 money...
and I used the money buy jor a new one that is $65 and I still save $35 haha...

My laptop from futureshop...
I replaced the 3rd adapter alrdy
n They exchange my motherboard n harddrive
lol 2 more month warranty will expiry

I replaced 3 SonyEricson phone in a year n 3 charger ... within a year...

n 2 of my laser pirnter DIE

WELL 我對我d野好好... but I just dunno why they die so fast T.T
Yeah... dere is more... but that's all i can think of now lol...

I didn't say the 10MP doesn't work...
is just last time...
we make a scrapbook for my frd
all the Picture are taken w/ the DSLR
n we miss a person's pic, so we used one that is took with DC
=.= the 2 pictures got print... haha BUT it turns out =S... compare 2 the other ones...
we can do nothing abt it... cuz we dun hav a DSLR camera with us that day lol...

, you better buy the cheapest DSLR in the market with credit card (make sure it provides 1 year extended warranty coverage).

And, just an advise, you should purchase those brands that are durable rather than fashionable (like iPad, iPhone...

Different size for sensor and lens, can't compare DC one with the DSLR one... On 3R/4R they may be the same.

10MP DSLR can generate almost perfect shots (at highest resolution and a sharp lens) that can fillup a 27inch LCD....

don't brother with the kits lens now. Try to find 35mm prime lens. Get use to the feel of normal lens first. Best advice to me ever.

actually I would say stick with the kit lens until you know what you want.....
I used my kit for 2yrs until last summer

I think those lenses price range at least starting from $200 or 300

telephoto lens is for shooting things far away

Stay with your kit lens for the 1st half year. After you get used with the camera, then get yourself some medium priced primes along with a flash. You can have very good results on low light environment.

For Canon 1.6 crop body, price for used prime lens ~$350-450, you can have Canon EF 28mm f1.8, Sigma 30mm f1.4, Canon EF 50mm f1.8 Mk 1 (it's only $180 used), Canon EF 50mm f1.4, Sigma 50mm f1.4, or even, a Canon EF-S 60mm f2.8 Macro.

I won't recommend 50mm f1.8 Mk 2 for you, it's all plastic except the lens part, based on YOUR good record, stay away from it...

35mm f2.0 maybe another good pick, but on a crop body, I would rather go for one that is <30mm and the other ~50mm.

For 'L' grade primes, I think it's a waste to use them on "crops" except for long range telephoto.

For telephotos, it may not be an urgent requirement except satisfying yourself of becoming a "SLR" guy... At the beginning, you can get yourself a EFS 55-250 IS. I started mine using a Tamron 28-200 f3.8-5.6, after playing for couple weeks (suffering...), I finally get myself a Canon EF 70-200 F4 IS USM and never turn back again. (Right now I'm still a happy kid...)

And start up a flickr account and read a lot, and look at good photos, and shoot like crazy.

And don't get into photoshop actions, presets, eye brightening, skin softening that kind of things, they are a waste of time.

Definitely! A good start is always fundamental to succeed. I think in the Boxing day sales T2i will be down to $700 (or even lower) with the 18-55mm kit lens. You won't regret...

if you want to play wide angle.. you should at least buy a full frame la!
you will never regret to buy a full frame.. get a 2nd hand 5D is cheap

If used 5D Mk1 is ~$900 and a new 60D is ~950, I will still go for the 60D obviously... There is not much difference in noise but surely it has more functions and newer....

u will just waste your wide angle lens without full frame... full frame does store much more infomation in the raw.. it is sharper, higher saturation and richer which is important for post processing

It's not just the reviews. You should find a camera that you are personally attached to, then you will feel the urge to use it often.

You are right. For wide angle, you can't go anywhere other than full frame.

i have no money, so I shoot 5D lor. If money is not the object than I be shoot a D700 or D3 la.

But I have no complaint, I love my 5D.

By the way, 5D is still a damn good camera .. I like it more then 5DII .. still better colour etc IMO ...

yes, i heard 5d is better in some way then the Markii. i never got to compare them.
me think the D7000 has more functions people love.
