My cousin from HK wanted to try the 喇沙noodles and 海南雞, so I brought her to Cafe X.  There were total 7 of us.  The wait for the table wasn't that bad, probably because it's a weekday.  

The meal overall was disappointing.  The chicken flavored rice was too soft and the 喇沙noodles is not flavored enough.  However, the most ridiculous thing is, when we got the bill, there was a 15% service charge.  So, we asked the staff there.  He informed us that because we have more than a party of 6; therefore, there is a service charge.  He pointed out to us the wordings with font size 4 or 5 on the menu saying "6 or more, 15% service charge".  

First of all, we do not think there were any services provided since all they did was to put the bowls and chopsticks on the table.  Well, they delivered the food too if I have to list out SOME services.  Second of all, who will ever think that a small Malaysian or Asian restaurant will dare to put 15% service charge for such small party (even western restaurant goes up to party of 8).  Last but not least, shouldn't they give us a heads up before the meal?  I believe we will be more than willing to pay for the charges if we were notified at the first place.  Oh well, to conclude, this was NOT a good experience for visitors!!!

There is only 1 海南雞 place called "cafe something"...

btw, I am surprised that your cousin wants 海南雞 in Vancouver. They are much better in HK or singapore...

to her I am going to bring her to other nicer places to make up for that mistake!!!

西餐廳係多過table for six就自動波15%, 連D Hapa日本tapas餐廳都係0甘
但我就覺得xxx delight都有比真係有D過分， 都無service架啦

Before they moved to this "new" current location, it was good. Now NEVER like them since day one they moved. Food portion smaller, 跟雞嚟嘅sauce得兩滴咁多(唔係兩碟)，問佢囉多碟sauce都小器到死唔想俾咁！Service係差至零！真係餓死都唔去！！

Adding service charge for a large table is very common practice for gwailo place.  Some even charge 18%.  Normally they would tell you service charge is added when delivering the bill.

one of my friend he was kind of drunk n missed that part
he actually paid 20% tips
no wonder the chef came out and 90 deg bow
he figured it out the next day

For banquet service, the caterer and hotels charge standard gratuity
15-20%, it is written on the contract so it is mandatory and not negotiable.
Tip would be optional.
Someone is going to jump in and  argue, end up spamming the post.

It was at Broadway and 麥當勞道 before (I also mixed up restaurant on W 4th and W Broadway all the time.)
I think the kids are running the restaurant since they moved to the new location... It's never the same after moving.

係九街嗰間
佢曾經響蝕到慌 food court 開過
後來 可能睇唔到兩邊
都係主力番 九街嗰檔
試都試過 不過 普通野啫
啱老番食多啲
