今日聽radio話溫哥華市長想追封肥姐，想設立一日做肥肥日以作記念
我聽到覺得好搞笑，不知道肥姐對溫哥華有什麼供獻呢?
如果是共眾假期我舉腳贊成，個如果得個名就哂氣多膠魚

阿蘇市長想拉我地華人票真無所不用其極，但research做得不夠，
不知道香港人對八卦新聞的瘋狂程度，以為肥姐是什麼一代偉人，像聖女貞德或德蘭修女般

他真的太天真and傻了!!!!!!!

Why Fei Fei day?

She did something to Canada? If she did something for S.U.C.C.E.S.S., do all the previous entertain get a day in Vancouver as well? Come on, we like Fei Fei but dont use her as political chips and try to make headline .... Shame on those Politician!!!!!

yes 肥肥 is our, or my, memory, I watch her shows since I was just knew how to walk! I remember her laugher and I respect her. BUT, what contribution did she make that not only us, but also other BC communities have to recognize her?

I would suggest HK to have a 肥肥日, though

Don't be silly. There is no holidays. It's just another "name only" days.
This is just like "International Noise Awareness Day" (this is every year but Fai Fai Day is only 1 day), "Multiple Births Awareness Day", "Oceans Day"...etc...etc....
So many cities had Jackie Chan day... so...

政客真係唔會放過任何一個擦鞋既機會. 市係咁, 省又係咁, 如果有人話俾 Harper 知, 佢都可能會借肥肥同中國人擦個鞋. 講真, 俾肥肥同肥媽既相叫金寶認下, 你估佢分唔分到?

好多響加拿大落地生根, 每日默默地做義工, 交稅, 盡力融入社會, 唔係剩係攞個 passport 就走頭既「真正加拿大人」, 貢獻咪仲多?

佢地咁樣, 同發「死人財」無乜分別.

I think all the HK actors/actresses should retire here and once they die, the mayor will give them the special holiday too.

Totally agreed with nikonian. And how laughable when I saw on TV yesterday that the council members observed a moment of silence for her at the provincial meeting yesterday. Not that I want to ridcule a dead person. I lived in Vancouver for more than 10 years and I don't recall one significant contribution Fat Fat has done for BC... except the fact they she and her daughter ate shark fin every day(?) Fat Fat has not done anything wrong, I just want to point out how brainless BC politians are thinking that they can get our (Chinese) vote by doing such ridculous thing.

How can Fat fat compare to Mrs.陶黃彥斌 in terms of contributions to the Chinese community? Why isn't there a day for Mrs. Tao then? This whole Fat Fat Day is so mo liu!!! Sammy got nothing more important to do lately?

City officials can make any day to honor someone or something(they will give out a certifcate).
but then, maybe be some of us didnt know, that honorable day is just for that day in that year only. It will not be repeated next year. In my knowledge. Most major cities named a day for something once everyweek.

Ms. To has been honored in her name when she passed away but not a day, it was the hallway outside her very own office in the SUCCESS buliding.

I like Fei Fei but she should not be taking as political toy after she passed away. There are a lot of people in Canada to qualify for a day in Vancouver. If everyone did something in Vancouver then qualify to mention a day in Vancouver, the name mentioning is meaningless.

The mayor has nothing to do but want to get some PHOTO up from Chinese media. For the real job, he has done nothing to the Vancouver people. He better to go back to sell drugs to those Vancouver East Side people. Definately wont vote to that guy !!!!

I heard from the radio this morning that they actually made a mistake because Fat Fat's birthday is not June 1. Her birthday is in July. They then said they couldn't change the date now but claimed June 1 is her chinese birth date.

What a joke!

溫哥華市長蘇利文表示，肥肥深受華人社區歡迎，對於她選擇在溫哥華定居深感榮幸，他指，社區對設定一個悼念肥肥的日子有不同意見，最早提出建議為「沈殿霞日」，但他認為公眾會對「肥肥」這個稱號感到更為親切，因此決定向肥肥家人建議採用「肥肥日」。

市長：懷念她的熱心
廣東話非常流利的蘇利文更表示，曾經試過看肥肥的節目《歡樂今宵》學講廣東話，又表示與肥肥多次見面，懷念她的熱心和幽默感。

Haha....... he probably polished the wrong shoe! Does he know that many of Chinese (mainly HK people) actually don't like (or even hate) Fei Fei at all?? While many people might be laughing (or no feeling), he felt into tears?! Haha........

【明報專訊】「如果媽媽（肥姐）知道溫市政府將她的生日日期（6月1日）定為『肥肥日』（Fei Fei Day）的話，在天之靈也會發出她那把響亮的招牌笑聲。」由香港飛抵溫哥華處理母親沈殿霞（肥姐）於今天正式入土為安的欣宜，昨日首度公開露面，代表剛辭世的母親，接受溫市市長蘇利文頒發的褒揚狀，當欣宜憶起與母親在加國的點滴思憶時，她再度忍不住而落淚，令人感動。

精神不錯、化了淡妝的欣宜，由姨丈姜家麟、舅父Alfred Sung，肥姐生前好友陳淑芬和岳華陪同下，出席溫市議會會議，代表母親接受褒揚狀。從她步入議會大廳的一刻開始，數十名到場採訪的傳媒閃光燈閃過不停。

穿著白衣上加黑色吊帶裙及頭戴白花的欣宜精神不錯，被數十鏡頭對準的她一直保持笑容，已經對被大批傳媒追訪習以為常的欣宜十分「識做」，一坐下便向不同方向的傳媒微笑。在進行禱告儀式後，市長蘇利文首先發言。蘇利文說﹕「肥姐是最好的喜劇明星，也是一個充滿愛心的好母親，知道她要離大家是一個令人傷心的消息。」語畢，蘇利文便邀請坐在後排的欣宜到他身旁，聽他讀出頒發給肥姐的褒揚狀內容。

6月1日定為「肥肥日」

欣宜一邊聽着蘇利文讀出她母親的演藝事業如何出色，及對本地華人社區所作出的貢獻時，一邊露出甜美的笑容。當蘇利文宣布將6月1日，即肥姐生日日期定為「肥肥日」之際，欣宜的表情就像告訴大家，她對母親是感到既驕傲又懷念。從蘇利文手中接過褒揚狀後的欣宜，隨即以英語發言，她表示會以驕傲及感激的心情接受溫市議會的嘉許。欣宜說，知道母親如果獲悉溫市政府將她的生日日期6月1日定為「肥肥日」的話，在天之靈也會發出她那響亮的招牌笑聲。

欣宜說母親在溫哥華將她誕下、讓她在溫哥華接受教育，而自己則回到香港努力地掙取生計。她笑着憶述，每次母親要回家，也會在電話中高叫「我返嚟啦！」欣宜模仿母親的這一句說話，無論在語調及聲浪方面也與肥姐十分相像，在座的市議員雖然聽不懂欣宜突如其來的這一句中文，但也似是領會到當中含意，不禁發出會心微笑。

憶慈母與市長同哭

談及與母親在溫哥華共同度過的日子時，一直平靜的欣宜再也忍不住淚水。她說﹕「我知道現在母親走了，再不能與她在SW Marine Drive遊車河分享夢想，也不能到溫市中心藝術館外喝咖啡，人們看着她們展示購物後的『戰利品』。」說到當自己再到Granville Island吃炸魚薯條已經不一樣、媽媽也不會再看着自己玩溜冰時，欣宜再也忍不住淚水，場面感人，就連蘇利文也不禁流下男兒淚。停頓片刻，收起淚水後，欣宜又再說，知道母親可以於自己喜愛的城市長眠，已心感安慰。

欣宜感謝過各位之後便隨即離開，她見傳媒爭先恐後地在梯間「霸位」，欣宜也十分有耐性地停下，讓保安員協助傳媒「排位」。被問及有什麼感受時，滿面笑容的欣宜表示很高興母親可獲得此榮譽，知道母親也會與她一樣開心。但當有傳媒問及她的父親鄭少秋會否參加喪禮時，欣宜還未及作出反應，陳淑芬已終止訪問。

I honestly do not care about "Fei Fei Day" as it has absolutely nothing to do with me. I am not a family or friend or fan or anything of Fei Fei and I don't get a holiday out of it so I really do not care if there's such day or not as it doesn't mean anything to me.

However, I believe that if I am at the ceremony, I will cry too. 欣宜 was expressing her sadness toward losing her mother and of course, I would automatically imagine myself losing my mom which makes me cry. I am cannot speak for anyone else but I cry because of EMPATHY instead of being 虛偽...

Hope you won't consider me 虛偽 as you don't even know me... please don't be so harsh...

可能是一時感觸而有感而發。但整件事係有人儲心積累，有意地，有目的地而非真心地作出肥肥日的主意
一開始就是虛偽，而當時哭得像自己死老母的他難免給人一種做戲的感覺，實在假

well i don't think its a big issue too (esp if it's only for 1yr),
but ppl have so many comments about it b/c they think it is unfair
to those who really contributed a lot to make our lives better
in Vancouver and didn't receive the similar "reward"/honorable mention
since they are the ones who really deserve these
