My innocent friend's car got hit by a truck.. The reckless ass just told ICBC the reverse story and ICBC cannot decide who is at fault.. Please please please please help my friend if you were there and saw what happened.. it feels really bad to be accused of…
Here is the real story:

Date: Feb 25, 2008 (Monday)
Location: Intersection of Westminster Hwy and No.4 Road Northbound (right outside the animal hospital)
Time: 3pm
Cars involved: White Toyota Yaris (on right lane)and Black Ford F150 truck (on left lane)

my car got hit by a truck today when i was on my way to work..
the lucky part is .. i am okay .. just having a lil bit of headache afterwards..
but my car isnt so lucky

the truck driver, for some reason, didnt see my car was right beside him when he attempted to change to my lane .. and yes it all happened at a busy intersection ..

so the right front of his truck crashed into my car's left front .. and since my car is a small compact car while his is a big truck .. after i got hit my car flew to the other side of the intersection and almost hit the cars stopping for red light.. but ya i stopped in time so thank god it didnt happen..

the driver's truck ONLY has his right front wheel scratched... while my car is quite messed up ... ya i guess thats the difference between big american truck and small japanese car.. im really lucky i didnt get hurt though the crash was on the driver's side..

aai never thought i would be involved in a car accident coz i've always been such a goooooooooooooooooooooood driver.. but yeah.. i guess unlucky happens...

Since I haven’t heard from ICBC for 2 days so I decided to call themthis evening.. This is what they told me.. “ the statements from bothof you are basically the same: the truck driver is saying you were theone who changed lane, while you said he’s the one instead. We can’treally tell who’s at fault as you do not have any witness. I’m verysorry to say that the fault would have to be split 50-50”…………………………………………

I’m really sad that ICBC can’t tell who’s responsible… that truckdriver was 100% at fault…… I wouldn’t have changed lane cause I need tostay on the right lane to go on highway… the truck was originallyfollowing me in the right lane too.. but I think he got impatientdriving after me and thus pulled his car to the left lane attempting tocross my car… the truck driver later told me he was going for thehighway too.. which means he would eventually need to merge back to theright lane… while at the same time I have no reason to change to hislane…. isnt this some evidence that it's the truck driver who changedlane but not meeeeee?

I thought my statements could already determine the truck driver was100% responsible.. but yeah it isn’t turning out that way…. ICBC’swebsite says “it’s only less than one percent of the time that ICBCcan’t say conclusively who is at fault”… Am I THAT lucky to be that1%.....???? i really dont get WHY ICBC said this accident is50-50..........

that would be a tragedy for my innocent friend to pay the damage caused by this moron! So...

icbc is dumb.....!!
UNLESS you are blind or something..u would not change to the truck's lane lor.....coz obviously his truck is RIGHT THERE coz its a freaking......TRUCK......rofl...-__- you shud be able to see it in every single one of ur mirrors & shoulder check....

so ridiculous!

HOPE U FIND UR WITNESS SOON!

ICBC always say 50/50 la...

Stupid ICBC, they should enforce some laws that whoever found to be lying in a claim should get the same treatment as lying in a court! This will probably deter people from lying so much.

a side note. ALWAYS CALL ICBC RIGHT AFTER i repeat RIGHT AFTER the accident. immediately book an appointment and give as much detail as you can. family and i've dealt with ICBC several times. whoever has first say gives an impression of "proactive" and not avoidin problem coz it's not at their fault.

yes ICBC is the best example of monopoly ass corp split 50/50 is easiest for them to settle ANY case.
"it’s only less than one percent of the time that ICBCcan’t say conclusively who is at fault" sounds like a joke but ICBC is dumbhead enough to ask if it's my fault to get rear-ended on a busy bridge after i braked for a few seconds coz it's a LINE of stopped cars in front of me. way easier for them to settle the case as client admitting fault.

possible to get you car inspected? i'm no good physics grad but would the damage be different when ur car is moving "forward and straight" and the ford trying to cut u without shoulder check? look at how damaged are the FRONT and right head light, compared to his ..wheel only?

hey i saw ur post on revscene as well`` sorri to hearr!! and ya ICBC is super gay and dumbb ive dealt with them many times (family and myself) which suckss cuz they are ridculously slow and wrong!

but i got a question if u rammed into the truck wouldnt ur bumper be dented inwards?? from wht i see is ur bumper is more like "scraped off" due to the wheel moviing and dragged it down...

and with common sense if ur in yaris and see a friggin big @ss ford on ur left side, other than be on drugs or high on some sort, i would not likely change lanes and ram into the truck = =

i have owned an echo before and being in a small car u would actaully pay more attention to the big cars on the road @@

but ya...im not physics guy and i haf no scientific proof to backup wht i say! u can take it as bs...but thats how i see it xDDa

That's a very good point! I didn't notice that.. my friend talked ICBC and they will do match-up exam next week...Hopefully, those dumb people will make a fair judgment.

Tell ICBC you aren't commiting suicide, who have the right mind would turn INTO a truck beside oneself ... on the other hand, you are right in his blind spot ...
