I will travel to Europe shortly and I plan to phone home (in Vancouver) with my cell phone. I bought my cell phone in HK and I have checked that it can be used in Europe.
My question is: do I need to dial some no. before 1-604 when I make a call to Vancouver?
I went to a Fido store this afternoon and asked. The guy there said he doesn't know!
????
What service are you planning to use?
You plan to use FIDO to call back? That's rich.
Of course you need to dial 1-604/1-778...
But yeah, I would suggest calling from your hotel(s) instead. The rates were definitely not too bad (will be cheaper than calling from your cell for sure).
Why not using wifi etc to call?
I know it's not cheap. $1.33 per minute with Fido. But I will only make 1 or 2 short calls home. I wonder if I need to dial 0 before 1-604.
I guess it must be different from calling from a hotel or using a phone card, because the cell phone is based in Canada.
I thought you need to call 001-1-604-xxxxxxx?
On cell phone, from anywhere in the world, it is +16045559876. The '+' key is different on each phone, usually is press-and-hold the '0' key. '+' indicate international call; and '1' is the country code for Canada and US.
blue20ae,
You are right. I went to another Fido store this afternoon. The guy there told me to dail '+' then 1-604.
Thank you all for your help.
