【明報專訊】柴灣發生一宗令人齒冷的殺貓案。10名街童及青年昨凌晨聊天時，將一頭路過的流浪貓「黑妹」截停玩弄，但貓兒掉頭逃避騷擾，眾人卻起訌圍捕。其中兩名青年持木棍窮追猛打，貓兒逃入

冷巷走投無路，但棍如雨下，黑妹全身骨頭慘遭打斷，悲鳴聲滅，橫死坑渠。有街坊睹酷刑大怒報警。目擊者指出，警方趕至準備將殺貓十人幫拘捕時，有人仍在嘻笑。兩名舞棍青年被落案控告虐待動物，其餘7男1女獲准以500元保釋外出，其中包括一名13歲中二女生。

愛護動物協會發言人呼籲家長糾正子女的殘暴虐待動物傾向，否則青少年成長後的人格令人憂慮。該會其後派員接收黑妹屍體，稍後可能剖屍檢驗死因，全力協助警方調查案件。

2人控虐待動物 8男女保釋

經常在柴灣曉翠苑停車場後巷案發現場餵飼流浪貓的馬太說，慘被殘殺的貓兒為成年雌性，上半身黑色，下半身及腳部有部分白色，馬太早年發現牠後，曾將其帶往愛護動物協會進行絕育手術，又幫牠改名為「黑妹」。馬太說，黑妹從來不騷擾居民，且很乖非常怕人，一見到陌生人便躲入坑渠，最喜歡吃乾糧，故馬太每次將乾糧放在坑渠裏。黑妹慘遭橫手後，馬太非常痛心，嘆說：「以前也有貓兒在這裏被人分屍……真不明白那些人如此沒血性！」

港島東區刑事總督察周少棠表示，涉嫌虐待動物的9男1女年齡界乎13至25歲，暫未發現有人涉及黑社會，但部分人有犯罪案底，其中13歲少女正就讀中二，部分青年則失業。警方指出，他們全部是案發附近一帶的街坊，晚上不時落街聚集聊天玩樂。警方調查後，懷疑其中19歲姓梁及24歲姓謝青年帶頭揮棍殺貓，遂正式落案控告2人虐待動物罪名，本周五將於東區裁判法院提堂；其餘人等則獲准以每人500保釋外出，稍後須返警署報到。根據《防止殘酷對待動物（修訂）條例草案》，虐待動物者最高可被判罰款20萬，監禁3年。

被捕時有人仍在嘻笑起哄

警方表示，昨日凌晨1時許，10名涉案男女在上址附近聊天，黑妹剛巧路經上址，疑兇將其截停玩弄，貓兒驚慌掉頭左閃右避，豈料眾人竟起訌圍捕黑妹，其中2名青年拾起木棍窮追猛打，餘人則在旁吶喊。其間，黑妹慌亂逃入後巷坑渠，但不幸被疑匪追及睹截，舞亂棍活活打斷牠全身多處骨頭，伏屍坑渠中。有目擊者睹慘狀報警，又謂警方趕至將10人拘捕，有人仍在嘻笑起哄。

why so big of a reaction?

compared to human murder...this is nothing!

why don't I see big reactions like this from human murder cases, e.g. young mom throwing her baby out from the window....why?

Because you're blind, I saw big reactions from human murder cases if the cases are like this. If 10 kids 亂棍打死 a baby, I will give big reaction.

Many murder cases got an intention, got a reason. But these kids kill the cat out of 好玩, the cat is innocent, and the cat can't defend himself against 10 human with 棍.

Anyway, your comment of 'why so big of a reaction?' really make me sick...

I'm not blind buddy...it's because I'm not blind I see all of this!  Killing without a cause is definitely causing more anger and bigger reaction, but the thing here...animal vs. human!  I'm not saying animals are worthless but compared to humans?  Many people just browse through numerous of news of people dying but those can just barely move their hearts.  E.g. the snowstorm in China has been going on for awhile and how many post in LYK we have regarding that?  This thread http://www.loyaukee.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=1519&extra=page%3D3 a whopping ZERO reply!

No one replied to the snowstorm thread, including those puzzled by "why so big a reaction" on the brutal killing of a kitten. And they go around tell us who sympathize the kitten "why so big a reaction". GREAT.

ok, maybe you guys are right, people react less but that doesn't mean we don't think it is a big deal or we don't care. Usually, big cases like you've mention got newspaper or TV criticize on it already, it is by default that people know how important or how bad it is. But kids killing cat doesn't happen that often and many people don't think it is a BIG DEAL, so we have to express our feeling about it and let people know it is a BIG DEAL.

I can't agree with "compared to human murder...this is nothing!". Maybe you are not a cat owner, and you won't know how it will feeling when your cat got 亂棍打死 by 10 kids. That cat is a random cat, that means it can happen on any cat any time and it is totally different from a human murder case.

Ha...I knew someone will say this...but didn't expect it from you.

It's an adult cat, not a kitten, but that doesn't really matter...

Anyway, that was just one example, is it really important that those who were puzzled by "why so big of a deal" need to reply to the snowstorm thread first before saying "why so big of a deal" to this cat killing?  If yes, then I apologize, I didn't even notice that thread until now, after I did a search for snowstorm, because it got zero reply so it's hidding somewhere at the bottom of the pile.

I understand how you pet lovers feel.  I have pets before and watching them die is sad.  However, they're still animals.

simply because it's wrong...could be misleading...

I don't know what the cat killers believe cuz I'm not them I can't say as certain as you can, maybe you can read minds?  But I'm sure what they did is wrong even the cat is just an animal.  As I said before, animals are still living creatures and they're not worthless.  You can't kill them for fun!  However, in another scenario, if you're stuck on an island and without any kind of food except you have your pet dog.  Will you eat it and survive or you'd rather hunger to death?

It's interesting that how people value animals.  Cute and adorable ones, they love and protect, how about the ugly ones?  Aren't they animals too?  If this cat killing case was raccoon killing instead, do you think people will feel as bad?

To make the scenario more extreme, if your dog is one of those big dogs, when both of you got hungry, u may not eat it, but it may eat u LOL
