METRO VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Two cents more per litre of gas? Higher property taxes? A vehicle levy? If we want better transit options and less congestion on our roads, the money has to come from somewhere.
Picture a B-Line from White Rock to Guilford or a direct bus from Langley to the Lougheed SkyTrain station. TransLink says services that sustain a growing population must be expanded and it's up to local mayors to figure out how to come up with $70 million more per year to fund the future.
On Vancouver streets, one man tells us the region is screaming for options, but the money question stumps him. We also spoke with a woman who just doesn't see gridlock in her future:
"I don't think it's going to be right away; maybe in many years, but not now," she says.
