SURREY (NEWS1130) - It's not the result she wanted, but Christy Clark says she'll live with it.

Speaking at an event marking the halfway point of the Port Mann Bridge construction project, the Premier says the province had plans in place for whether the HST survived or not.

"The Finance Ministry and government have thrown out the HST scenario, we're ready to state our results based on the new realities we're facing, so we're well prepared for it," says Clark.

"We're working with the 30,000 businesses that have never lived in a PST environment for one thing, negotiating the $1.6 billion with the federal government, hundreds of employees that got transferred to the feds have to be transferred back, so all that PST machinery needs to be put back in place."

Clark says half of the $1.6 billion in Ottawa's HST transition funds was spent in the first year, mainly on healthcare and education.

She says discussions on how to pay it back began weeks ago.
