This year the night market will be on and it will be in the same place.

I heard that from radio couple days ago. but the organizer is different this year.

yeah totally!! i always see a building there that's being built every time i drive back to Rmd from work...

i think this year's night market will be held at a different place gwa...? and maybe smaller too?

ahhh doesnt matter where!
as long as is in RICHMOND and with lOTS of parking and yes...a NITE MARKET WITH GOOD FOOD...! ahahha...

No la. I saw the floor plan and it is very similar to the one last year. It will not be too much different.

I do not know about before because I never rented one but I got phone number from who is a sale for the event. Pm me if you wish to get the phone number.

how does the food licence and insurance work? do we need to purchase our own product liability insurance? i don't think food safe is enough? has anyone tried doing a food booth who is not from a restaurant?

I heard that City of Richmond is not going to approve this organization to host this event at the same place...they dont have permit yet!!! be cautious if u are vendor k.....

I have doubt that the organizer have permit since the Richmond City is not allow anymore night market held in Richmond. Having a night market is a very complicated job and i know Raymond usually prepare it a year ahead not 2 months. Until they got u any further info, people should take caution on it.

Please go check City of Richmond and I will bet 1 million if they got the license to do it this year.....its not APPROVED yet!!!!!
Come on guys....its late March already.....how could they have sufficient time for that??? its a big event having over 300 booths!!!
If City of Richmond a big supporter...then they give them the license already, right? If u are any vendor who is interested in this event...please be cautious, they might take your money and leave. Same as buying an apartment, we called it ' lan may lau' in real estate.

RICHMOND (NEWS1130) - While the operator of the Richmond Night Market is still looking for a new location for the popular annual event, another group has secured the rights to the old site behind Home Depot in North Richmond.

Paul Cheung and his group, Lions Communications, plan to run the 'Summer Night Market', starting May 30th, pending approval from the city. Cheung says the city has given them a list of issues they need to deal with before approval can be granted. "Things like additional parking, consultation with neighbouring businesses, they want a site plan."

There is to be a public hearing on May 20th, and Cheung says he wants 300 vendors on site doing business 10 days later.

The operators of the old Richmond Night Market say they'll make an announcement on their plans in the next few days.

【明報專訊】有關今夏列治文夜市的舉辦問題，Lions Communications行政總裁張振華昨日說，他已經向列治文市政府提出申請，在列市Home Depot後方的河旁路(River Rd.)舉辦「夏日夜市」，如獲批准，將從5月30日開始，一直進行到10月5日，每逢星期五、六、日及公眾假日舉行。

雖然夜市地點與去年是同一個地方，但是主辦單位卻已經換人，名稱則從「列治文夜市」(Richmond Night Market)改為「夏日夜市」(Summer Night Market)。張振華表示，他是在本月才落實場地的租約，向市政府提出夜市的申請之後，暫定在5月20日召開公聽會，以決定是否批准舉辦夜市。

不過，列市市議員麥樂田(Bill McNulty)表示，市議會至今未收到職員提出關於夜市的報告，因此認為夜市要在5月底開幕非常有難度。他又說，由於今年主辦方易手，新主辦者需要得到多個部門的牌照，時間實在太緊迫。

張振華稱，對得到批准有信心。「預估今年的停車位數量有1000個，比去年多。」據他說，目前已經租出40個攤位，他希望開幕時能夠有300個攤位，規模與往年不相上下。

Home Depot後方河旁路的夜市場地面積約有40萬平方呎，張振華說，他希望今年讓遊客能夠更容易抵達夜市，並計劃降低停車費。據估計，往年的夜市平均一晚可吸引1.2至1.4萬人次。

過去數年在列治文舉辦夜市的「列治文夜市」Target Events負責人張明山昨日說，自從去年辦完夜市之後，已經搬離原場地，一直在尋找新場地，但他明白指出，他在今年不會再辦夜市，但就會推遲到明年才舉辦。

對於Lions Communications公司行政總裁張振華正在申請中的「夏日夜市」，張明山認為，「夏日夜市」的名稱與他過去多年沿用的「列治文夜市」過於雷同，公眾很容易混淆，如果「夏日夜市」出了什麼問題，他不希望公眾誤會與他有關，因為兩者之間的主辦單位不同。

張明山還說，對方可能是故意取「夏日夜市」這個名稱，因為列治文夜市過去幾年辦得非常成功，取一個相近的名字，較容易吸引公眾參加。

the night market is so empty this year... even if the food section open, half the market is still without people booking the booths. hopefully the food section can make it alive again, cuz it sure looked pretty dead without it.

The organizer expects to have over 10K people per night. Do you think it is possible? It just sounds too big a number to me.

Can people who had been to the night market tell us how many people per night you would estimate?
