VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Vancouver Police are keeping people off a stretch of Kingsway as an hours-long standoff continues. Officers were called out to Kingsway between Tyne and Joyce Streets around 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Officers are negotiating with a distraught man, who may be armed, in an apartment building. Police say he may be a danger to himself and possibly to others around him. The neighbouring suites in the building have been evacuated.

Investigators are actively keeping people out of the area as a number of blocks of road remain shut down.
