The "original" Richmond Night Market will be having a new location this year.
RICHMOND NIGHT MARKET FOUND NEW HOME FOR 2012
Raymond Cheung, president of Target Event Production, last Friday submitted an application to the City of Richmond for permission to open a re-envisioned market next May in a brand new location in Richmond, one that promises to combine the best of all worlds for festival-goers in breathtaking, waterfront surroundings.
Once it is approved by Richmond council and city staff, Raymond Cheung said the 2012 Richmond Night Market will open on an expansive 18-acre site at the north end of No. 3 Road at River Road—a property known as Duck Island—immediately west of the world-class River Rock Casino Resort and Bridgeport Station of the Canada Line
Founded in 2000, the open-air market—inspired by the best markets from around the globe—has grown to become an international sensation and now ranks as the largest of its kind in North America. Drawing hundreds of thousands of people from around the world each year, visitors come to haggle at the 250 merchandise booths, sample
the 80 vendors serving exotic international foods and mouth-watering desserts, and enjoy a diversity of nightly entertainment inspired by traditions from the four corners of the world.
