作者: lo_pak    時間: 2012-1-15 16:59

Tried the curry with pork cutlet at 29 Ave sometime last week, the pork chop is okay (I think 豚王 maybe a bit better although I can tell there is flavor added) but the curry is way way (to a degree that's not being normal) too sweet and no spice can be tasted...

Those Japanese pizza never became popular at Aberdeen. Maybe more people will like 日式豬扒 rice. But there is strong competition from Hong Kong pork chop rice.

I think HK pork chop rice tastes differently from Japanese one, IMO...

Usuallly for HK style, the sauce came with either sweet & sour or simply tartar on plain rice...

For Japanese, they could have that in curry paste or Katsudon (cutlet bedded with a layer of semi-cooked egg mixture of onion & misc. vegs)...

Finally a Japanese Deep fried port chop store called Saboten will be opened its 1st branch in Vancouver on Jan 20, 2012, at Aberdeen Centre.

I have eaten the deep fried pork chop at HK airport foodcourt, it was so crispy and juicy (U don't believe it)

Haven't try this one in Japan. Only had one meal at Katsukura in Kyoto (very very good) and few at Wako was just so-so but still better than most places here (depending on location).

master hung will have another location coming this year.
作者: hirokendo    時間: 2012-1-18 13:16

talking about Master Hung - the one in West Vancouver - Will never go back. The beef noodle soup is not up to the par. The stewed pork intestine is way too salty. I actually wast 30 bucks there for dinner of 2.

For this pork chop express, the staff are trained by the Japanese chef from Japan, so quality should remain consistent.
作者: Yes-man    時間: 2012-1-29 01:56

i think master hung is way overpriced
