I found some very good Singapore Food in the Crystal Mall Food Court.
I usually buy the HK style food in Crystal mall but one day I smell some very good Curry. So I decide to try. I work around Burnaby area.

But I first try the Hai Nan Chicken because it is safer. Taste very local Singapore style.
Not free range chicken but the meat is not over cooked like the others. Rice is the right amount of oil.
Mix well between normal rice and sticky rice too. cost $5.50

Next day I try the "Meat Bone Tea". The smell and taste is almost exactly the one I tasted in Singapore "Lo Pa San" years ago. However the meat is not as soft as I expected. May be not cooked for a long time. And the soup will be a little strong for some people. cost $5.95

And then I go for "Singapore Style Pork Rib with rice" taste like Chinese King Do Bone. It taste good (sweet+sour) but because it taste like King Do Bone, so it is a bit no surprise for me. cost $5~ forget

I want to try curry chicken today but I am coughing these days so I order the Hai Nan Chicken again. I bring a friend today and he likes it too. I see some old customers order Singapore Thick Rice Noodle. I guess it should be good too.

Sorry no pictures and all text is pretty boring and this is the first time I post. Let me know what you think.

Not too many people post good restaurants these days and some old links are remove. Where are you guys come on?

really?
how come I don't smell any curry?

come on this new person at least write something s/he likes and dislike about the restaurant.
s/he didnt mention name of the restaurant also. at least its way better than others la.

I talked to the owner of the restaurant and they are indeed from Malaysia so the food you can say it's authentic.  However, I tried their Meegoran (fried noodle), it does not taste as good as others.  However their sambal sauce (hot chili sauce) is quite good and spicy.

I will go back to try other food.

Compliment from competitor, amazing!

I've tried their hoi nan chicken rice. small portion, no soup. it was ok tasting only. i don't mind to go back to try something else.

dont know why some people are so 'sensitive' these days...   what makes some of you think the poster is trying to sell or scam?  just because the poster likes the restaurant and recommends some dishes?

dont be so narrow-minded, there is nothing wrong with praising a particular restaurant.

I did try this new store in foodcourt, i liked its hoi nan chicken, portion was ok big, comes with MSG soup, chicken was almost boneless, meat was soft and moist, skin was ok crisp, the rice was pretty good - not very oily and tasted good.

Now are u guys gona accuse me of selling / scamming?   come on...we're adults..act like one pls.

Haha.  I only stated what is true.  I am not going to bash my competitor if they have good food.

Which stall is yours myversa??  I eat at CM all the time.

ATGB,

Wow I didn't expect there are quite a number of replies! I usually just read, don't usually post.

Yes I know sometimes people think posting are just owner selling. Especially sometimes I try some restaurant I know it is really bad but still people say it's really good, then I suspect.

But I don't know how to write to make it more objective. May be I should never put name (I actually didn't pay attention to the name). May be I should take away the cost also. If people also think it is good, then more people will add in more comments. If there is an online 蔡瀾 (can't type Chinese, have to look it up) who we trusted and can verify all the places for us, it would be great My taste could be subjective too, and I love eating Chicken in general. That's okay, if somebody tried and likes it I would be happy.

Oh Sorry I forget to mention I smell curry because somebody order curry that day so I smell it, not because they make a big pot so I smell it.

I remember Loyaukee used to have 2 links that have a big list of restaurant inside and some comments inside. Does anyone know if they are still around? Sometimes when I run out of idea, will go to take a look.

I only tried a few Singapore Restaurant in Richmond Patermoon, KimLoon and Coconut House, also there is a small one on Broadway (long time ago, not sure if still exist, they have no bone Sun Chicken). If anyone have any recommendation, please let me know. Thanks!

Not that I am a homesick Singaporian but I had a chance to work there for a few weeks and tried some authentic Singapore food. Actually it tastes good but they put tons of MSG there (to be fair, I go to the cheap food court style one, not expensive restaurant)

Haha.  applekiwi, if you like Malaysia/Singapore food, you should come down to Richmond Public Market.  Our cook is as authentic as he can be because he is from Penang and he owns several restaurants in Penang too.

We do not put MSG into our food because I ate it all the time and I do not like MSG.

if you want to write a good food review...you should do it similar to what AC did in the old LYK la...he wrote lots of food reviews!  with pictures and illustrations, star ratings, etc...I enjoyed reading those and really hope that someone could import them over...

sometimes it's not people who are sensitive, it's the board being abused too many times before, newbies come sell then gone....well, I guess it's better now than before since the traffic here is not as much???

"Lung Wah"'s roast pig is really good.

also i like "bak yok lan"'s Shanghai dumplings

"pak lai bo" is always a solid choice.

Paradise Juice is the best place for fruit smoothies...they use lots of fruit not ice and milk.

i went to CM today and tried the tom yum vermicelli at the singaporean restaurant. definitely yummy. i will go again and try the curry tomorrow.

I might go to have a try. I have tried many Singaporean / Malaysian food in Vancouver but I was disappointed every time I tried including the most well known Singaporean / Malaysian style restaurant in Vancouver. It just does not taste like what we had in Singapore.

I have never tried anything in Crystal Mall except at the time when the mall was grand opening which is years ago. However, someone told me there is a BBQ shop has the best BBQ and 燒豬 in Vancouver. It is even better than the BBQ shop in Parker Place. I always buy from Parker Place and I believe it is the best in Vancouver in my own opinion. Does anyone know whether there is such BBQ shop and its name?

If the BBQ shop in CM is that good, I will definitely have a try. 燒豬 is my favorite.

I will come and try your food. (can you give a hint for the name of your shop?) I have a few friends in Penang and they have keep telling me how good the food is in Penang. Moreover, I like your attitude toward other people who are in the same business as yours. I do not believe people in the same business must see each other as competitors. If there is no competition, there will be no effort for improvement. We will not have the chance to enjoy those wonderful foods as the customers.

Yes, yes. That person told me that never try the 燒鴨 there. It is confirmed what he told me is true. It is funny.

Haha.  I had aguement with the cook so I did not work there over the weekend anymore.  The cook is still the same cook.  I still think it's the most authendicate Malaysian food in Greater Vancouver.  My wife only works there Tuesday-Friday morning now.  She cannot work 7 days anymore but she is getting too tired.

What did you order?  Did you like it?

I did go there on Saturday noon but just for twenty minutes to deliver some supplies.

I still ask my wife to bring some food back especially their curry sauce and asam soup.

OH too bad you weren't there. I ordered Malaysian style chow fun. The taste was good but I think there's room for improvement. I hope you don't mind me being honest.

It's okay.  Nothing is perfect.  To be honest, the cook might move away in few months so I will miss his food.  His food might not be the best but for sure is the most athunticate as it can be.

My wife and I are still looking for another good Malaysian food restaurant.

I heard the buffet restaurant down at the states (http://lycheebuffet.net/) has Malaysian main cook.

rice was very mild, no chicken taste.
chicken was tasteless
no black soya sauce, super old ginger sauce only.
