Actually I am more interested in Leica optics rather than its cameras,  especially loving to view Leica pix ("saint glow" !  )
Not too attracted to range-finders though used a Rollie, m8 and currently a m9.  Quite a stubborn fanz of FM2....

Leica optics is just an investment to me. I am not really drawn to its optics per se. There's nothing special about it that distinguishes it from the likes of Zeiss. My favorite 35mm lenses are actually Sonnar lenses made by Zeiss.

Leica gears are the "cheapest" gears because you almost never need to spend a penny using them. Yes, you might need to put down $5K for a Summilux 35mm FLE but after using it for 2 years you would sell it at $6K. So the cost of owning it would just be interest on $5K - $1K which is negative.

係真，不過現在太遲了，過去兩年已經炒到飛天，加上世界經濟困擾，現在進入市場很大機會捱價。
高低之分是有的，太舊的不會太熱炒，太新的asph 玩家又覺得沒有"leica 味" , 炒得最厲害的主要是幾支
pre-A 的 35 和 50 lux 和 con. 最離譜是七妺，炒到比最新的asph 還要貴.

You can still find good deals here and there. It just takes patience. I do 1-2 deals a month on average.

But the price difference between here and Hong kong /china is pretty crazy. I will probably keep all my gears and bring them back to sell.

Actually, your psychology adjusts once you into the Leica world. When I started with some cheap DSLR stuff, I thought $1K is a lot for a camera gear. But now, a $5,000 lens is pretty cheap to me.

相機 Hi Fi 是會死人，但是鏡頭不同，鏡頭二手市場是存在的，特別是一些銘鏡。牛郎C-hing 說的無錯，玩Leica 的費用，比玩Canon Nikon 便宜 (還可能有賺)，我開始時玩Canon L ，洩到我傻左眼坦坦，之後玩zeiss 也要小洩，但是leica 賺錢，這是千真萬確的. 說到尾，Leica 只屬中純度，市場有承接，係玩唔死嘅。真正高純度是法國K 仔那些。

香港買家主要來自強國，但是過去兩年，強國主要大城市已經積存大量Grade A ~ Grade B 貨，炒上水位已經不多。最近強國水緊，價格明顯回落，其中一向廣受歡的50 lux A, 35 cron A, 估十二月/一月份下跌超過10% , 雖然EURO depreciation 也是原因，更大問題是dealing time 長左，反影供求情況有變。唯一仍然堅挺是德版銀七，但經歷過去兩年喪炒，市場上仲可以搵到幾多靚仔德版銀七？個人睇法，在水位收窄，買家猶疑情況下, 炒奶不如炒CAD 波幅。

I won't say Leica glow is a myth, it does exist due to some optical (mis)behaviors that's unique in Leica lens design philosophy. Under ambient light, try any average Japanese glass, 包你影唔出. Even if you intentionally try to "create" it with artificial light the effect you get will not be quite like the Leica style. It is because japanese lens makers tend to "flat out" the dark/bright transition. With one exception : the discontinued Japanese Zunow, which has become a collector's name with its 50mm standard lens now costs close to, if not more than, a brand new Honda Civic.

With Ziess, the Sonnar 50 f/1.5 is probably the only Zeiss that I have seen can produce comparable intensity of glow under ambient light. However, the sonnar also inherits some typical Zeiss characters that make its images very different from that of a Leica.

Right, I don't mean an average Japanese glass. What I wanted to say is that the Leica glow is not something that's very specific to the Leica brand. It's just an artifact that's based on the lens design and production and any other brand can make the same lenses with the same specifications. As for character, each lens is slightly different and I personally wouldn't own any of the Leica glass except the Noctilux f1 and Summilux 75mm. But since it's such a good investment, now I just keep buying and putting them in my drawers.

I like sonnar too. I already have a 40 sonnar otherwise would have considered a ZM sonnar 50/1.5

Great Zeiss shots of yours : tack-sharp and high contrast.  See if I can find some pix of 50 lux later,  will post some here.

I personally do not prefer 75 lux because it is midway between the amazing 50 lux and outstanding 90 cron,  有的兩頭唔到岸感覺。 However I agree it's one of Leica's best worth lenses.

Noct is good idea.  But at its price I would desperately want a K 仔 instead.
Oh,  did you hear that there's a HK-designed 50 f/0.95 M-mount lens upcoming ? Steve Huff has a first look at it.

You got the Rollei 40mm sonnar? It's my favorite lens for street.

I like the Noct f1 not because of speed, so I don't really care about the HK f0.95 lens.

When I borrowed the 75mm lux from my friend, I shot at f2.4 - f2.8 most of the time.

And those Steve Huff tests are totally useless to me. The stuff he shoots/tests are totally different from what I do so it doesn't help me to evaluate a lens.

Kind of like "iphone" ja ma .. as long as still people from China love buying them at high price ..

Even most "Rolex" are sort of Free .. buy one, wear for few yr, keep in good shape, can sell for more .. if you want to.

無用架，你留意到嘅時候，已經係水尾，大把人飲了頭淡湯。而且炒家好多都有貨路，一般羊群無貨路。就講iphone啦，你以為炒家入貨，會同普通人一家大細去apple store 排隊？請人一車一車(旅遊大巴) 去排呀！甚至搵hackers 網上程式買貨，你想log 入個網站買貨，第二世啦。

講返Leica 鏡，亞洲炒家在歐洲有哂貨源，(上年衰到連德國佬自己，都派人來香港開店炒貨，識嘢者唔需要我多講，應該知道是邊間）。未計個PK 代理D sales佬自己屯貨造市。就算無貨源嘅，都識得搵在英國讀書的親戚仔女，在歐洲 Leica shop 掃貨，即日已經在香港出ads，DHL 三日到香港，炒高25% 價 (暫時價位），25% 好唔好肉？難講，炒家算OK ，普通人坐飛機去入貨就死得。機票酒店加加埋埋，如果機場退稅出問題即死。而家大部分所謂業餘炒友搵兩餐者，其實只是接一手炒家貨，炒上炒，傻佬搵更傻的佬笨七。個市風吹草動，炒友變收藏

而家香港炒家貨，比上年中高位時回落10% ，你接唔接貨？你接，在下都可以比貨你

真架，當你睇到個trend 嘅時候，很多時已經是水尾，我真寧願炒外匯，密食當三番，起碼轉身快反手易，就算輸都輸唔死。
