Samsung for sure on the same level. BUT Sony new models are out any time now, so you might get a deal on the EX models.
It has a transmitter to broadcast to the glasses, it usually has a 120Hz or faster display panel, the TV processor is also faster as it can toggle between 2D and 3D.

If you want to watch 3D media, you'll need a 3D compatible TV plus a 3D compatible player such as 3D blueray player. Even the original media is not in 3D, you can use the TV's 3D animated effect to watch 3D-like result.
i hate 3d... know how it works, tried it since the 80s, and tried it in 2012, not anything earth shattering, stupid glasses, darken image, passive? lower resolution. Usually more depth than pops, and that freaking thing makes me dizzy. I'm out.

yes, but do NOT buy HDMI cable from BB/FS.
Get them from NCIX or dollarama for cheap!

If you wanna buy the 3D TV for playing PS3 3D games, the sony EX723 will not WORK! it got terrible 鬼影 on the top 1/3 of the screen... We refunded the Sony EX720 couple months ago while it was on sale. We test it out with Uncharted 3 and you can tell the different right away..we also tried it with ICO.. it is unacceptable.. It is well known product defective issue that Sony refused to make update or adjustment.. just said will improve in future models... Sony is not recommended unless you are going for their HX models. Just my 2 cents~作者: matt72178 時間: 2012-1-30 16:45
Any recommendation under 1000 cad?
How about Panasonic?
Sorry, I might not be able to answer your question ne.. as I am not very good at it either. just dun want you to waste your time to buy the Sony EX723 while we had the bad experience. My hubby said the most compatible one would be the Sony Playstation 3D tv but it is just waaaaay too small…only 24”. We are also waiting for the 2012 models come out and see if any further discounts on the 3D tv. We are aiming for HX929 and it’s a good one for PS3 3D too..just it’s not under 1000. If I remember it correctly, Panasonic is a plasma with good 3D also, but it has a problem on the brightness? so when time goes by… it will have bleeding.. (which my hubby said it’s more harmful than da ghost shadow) Sorry.. I am just half bucket water =(作者: pkphilip 時間: 2012-1-30 22:16
You will need HDMI Cable, but don't get it from the FS/BB. Don't get cheap ones too because they do break. I got 2 Belkin HDMI for $15 here: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=64299
They are nice quality (thick) cable for everyday use.
HX929 - someone is balling here. It's waaay up there.

For hdmi cable, rocket fish sells cheap stuff at HIGH price and their cable is not durable. We got one broken at home =__= Monster will be a better choice, but they are over priced. You can wait till it is on sale sin buy.. usually amazon.com or the states sell it much cheaper.
If the cable is short and you don't plug-unplug every day, there are no functional differences. HDMI is like Ethernet LAN cable, it carries digit signal. You either get it or you don't. Expensive one may have less error, if the length is very long, 50+ ft.
I would skip Toshiba as we have nothing but trouble with it. They are priced cheap and people who buy them don't care about quality.
I have been using Belkin and RCA brand HDMI and component cables, so far they are great, thick and durable. Some cheap, MIC ones that I buy from Monoprice and DX, they started to corrode a bit only in about 3 years. So.. I would not buy $5 cables and that's what you get.
As I always say.. if you drive a sport car, you don't cheap on the gas and car wash. Similarly, if you are buying a Sony HX or XBR, don't go cheap on the cable and power bar. My "cheap" is cheap/poor quality, not cheap price. If you know where to look, you can find some nice quality made stuff as cheap price.
Been using a "cheap" cable from monoprice and never had any issues that you described. HDMI cable is very different from speaker cables. Spending on an expensive one is a huge waste of money imo.
ha ha... It is like when buying a fast Core i7 PC insist on pairing with a $100 monster LAN cable. Yes, it look pretty, but works just the same.
I did not say you have to buy Monster cable, but generally good quality cable would do. Mine are corroded because I think they are near heat source and is covered with dusts and stuff... so I am not surprised.
Then I bought my 2x 6ft Belkin cable for $10 when on sale, I am not complaining at all.
