Engineering

sounds crazy, but if u're not the 90+ students, do college first, then transfer in afterwards.   The GPA requirement is much lower.  I don't know why neither.

is 90+ right now = 80+ 10 years ago?

It is amazing how students can get 97% average these days. I still remember, even the top students in Hong Kong didn't get that high. There could be some grade inflation with the scoring methods here.

Going into UBC is easy, you can get into Forestry for like 70% average.

If you want to go to Business, you better get over 95%+

As well as agricultural management... They don't need high marks...

Last year they didn't accept students with 95% + for Sauder, on the other hand people will 86-88% got it in for some reason. All I can say is, get really high marks + do A LOT of extra-circulars so you can fill the application fully because there are 10 spaces for extra-circulars and another 10 for rewards.

UBC is not hard to get in if you know da tricks.
If you wanna get into Science or Arts but your mark is not high enough, then just apply Forestry or Agricultural Science.. admitted at ~70%, then get above 67% on your 1st year at UBC then do internal transfer to Faculty of Art or Science.. But if you want to go to Commerce.. or Econ.. better study at Kwantlen or other colleges where you can get higher marks than at UBC...

(2) makes no difference .....好在你都識講," if you are staying HERE for a job"....and this should quite firmly confine to a provincial context.

i don't know
maybe i am too naive
i just know that I went to a shxt school but it didn't affect me

or maybe it did
maybe i would be making 3 times as much now if i didn't go to a shxt school
so maybe you are right

"覺得" haha, yea because I know so many more people who deserve to be in UBC than those who were actually accepted, so technically "覺得" applies. Either way, people strive for the higher education at the "so-called" prestigious universities because employers, especially those outside BC "覺得" students that got into UBC is "so-called" superior to the others who didn't get in. A university degree is like the new high school diploma. With the amount of competition out there, trying to get into the "better" university may help boost your competitiveness when you graduate? I don't know, which university you get into definitely isn't the only determinate of how successful you will be.

who knows? maybe i'm the naive one.

Fresh grad

Commerce has always difficult to get in. It's board based admission so even if you have high 90s+ you might not get in if you don't have any extra curricular activities.

I don't know about adjusting marks for public vs private schools though. It's a rumor and I actually it's easier to get higher marks in some private schools because you are paying a very high tuition fee and the school wants the students to "succeed."

A lot of people get kicked out. Usually due to 1. LPI 2. GPA 3. Lack of interest.
