Hey, anyone uses those 4/3 cameras. It is a purchase for wife as a pocket camera.

I saw a Olympus ep-l1 on sales. And ep-l2 is $100 more. Should I send extra $100 the ep-l2? Or Panasonic GF series a better choice?

Oly 4/3 is quite good ga .. I quite like their colour ..

I think I have the EP1? (whatever the first one they released few yr ago) I kind of like it more then Pana and Sony one ..

No, lens change. She prefers zoom lens. It can shoot video and takes quick snap shot here and there. Mostly importantly, not too expansive.

need cheap/easy to find cameras.

If I have that much dope, I bought some Phase one and Prophoto power pack. You can beat the horse to dead, but 35 is as good as 35. Until then I am going to go cheap.

Hmm.... I won't consider a M4/3 camera with a zoom lens a "pocket camera" and inexpensive lor. :b
Would you reconsider a better prosumer instead?

LX-5 and S95 are nice on paper, but the sensor is so tiny, it has hard any dof.

that can be a bless or curse depends on your applications
if you shoot at low light and wants higher dof, you would be shooting f8 with your m4/3 vs f2.8 on a compact

Fichai: $300 for E-pl1, new old stock. Brand new good compact S95 is pretty much the same.
Cow: True too. I need more dof only when I am shooting food at close distance. There than that 99% I am at the wide open end.

epl1/2 -  Too big being a handy P&S, I use it only for playing with M lenses.  M43 sensor isn't that impressive at all esp in low light.

Lx5 - Great built as a P&S.  Though can be get used to, its button arrangement seems a bit  cumbersome sometimes.  It took me 20 mins to figure out where the movie mode was the first time I used it.  Leica optics is a joke here.

s95 -  Great built as a P&S.  Typical canon colours that I have felt tired of, otherwise it should be the most user friendly choice amongst the three and should easily appeal to most lady users.

One small note :  epl2 inherits some sensor-software faults that would cause unpleasingly strong flare in extreme lighting (too dark and too bright).  I don't know what the issue is called in English but it was once widely covered in Chinese media. Check for " epl2 佛光" if you are interested in knowing before making a decision.

I think to be compact for a 4/3, you need to get the pancake lense, which causes more money lor @@

for now i am quite happy with my cell phone camera too lol

Not many friends gettting marry any more .. so .. may be 2-300 pic per year per SLR now ..
