Would any LYK who know wine well can provide me some feedback?

The hotel is providing them for complimentary half bottle of wine per person for a wedding.

THanks!!!

Well.. Jackson Trigg is not bad.  Some of them are pretty good.  You can look for comments and ratings online.   And as local wine, it is top 10 winery.

Anyway, it's label looks high-end. LOL  and way better than yellow tail.

Personally I prefer Mission Hill...

BTW, merlot & chardonnay are a pretty safe combo for banquet - good for steak and poultry. Chardonnay "may" be a bit too sour for seafood, but certainly depends on what sause/taste the receipt is. Ususally serving with fish has no problem.

oh.. of course.. Mission Hill is one of the best. lol  last summer I went to their mansion and bought some reserved and privileged wine. lol
oh.. I bought a bottom (cost around $120) and then my frd told me it sold $5000 RBM in China. !!!

I have tried couple of the regular Jackson Triggs white wine, for some reasons several hours after I drank my finger joints turned numb and red, I thought it has to do with some sort of allergy (sulphide??)...  I do have the same problem with some white wines, but for Mission Hill and some small wineries (eg. Sawmill Creek), so far so good, nothing happens...

BTW, I don't think any Canadian red or white wines should worth more than $100 mostly because they are not capable for aging (most parts associated with the tanin content), do you agree? For that price tag, I have a wide selections around the world...
作者: rainbow-davie    時間: 2012-2-22 09:07

yaa,  i usually only buy Canadian wine less than 50.  except ice wine.
But that Mission Hill signature wine worths it.   it is called Oculus.  You can't find it in BC Liquor store.

Last time I got an Oculus.. It was around $80. I gave it as a gift to my friend in HK.
Well, I guess you can sell a lot of things for a big tag in China....
Personally, for that $, I would rather drink something French, Italian or Spanish...

Thank you everyone! The banquet would mostly be buffet style and guests can choose to have red or white wine and it's complimentary by the hotel. I've heard yellowtail really no good too.

I can't do it...
I hate Australian Syrah  in general... so even seeing yellow tail make me feel sick.

If syrah from Australia can't satisfy you, you hardly find others that can fit you easily.... North american syrah is very scary IMO... Like you, if I can choose I usually skip syrah from my list... Merlot and cabernet (I like merlot better) are top pick for red...

BTW, usually at gathering, I choose Mission Hill for meals; for tasting I usually choose wines from Du-Pape (the most cost effective and almost no disappointment so far, fruity, complex, within budget (sub-$100) you name it)...

I chose Jackson Triggs Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc for my wedding banquet. The sauvignon blanc was surprisingly good. Merlot is so-so but is already better than all the other choices on the hotel's wine list at that price range ("better" in the sense of "being suitable for Chinese palate").

merlot is a good choice for event because it is not too strong, right in middle and most of the people can drink it

Chianti is good, around $30.00, some even under $20.00 and won't be disappointed.
