不足48小時, 我便會在香港飛往溫哥華的客機上,
面對一個親切得很陌生的環境, 心情好複雜...
親切基於對這個國家這個城市十年以上的情意結,
陌生是因當地我並無一個認識的親人或朋友.

一切源動力都來自追夢的決心,
一直以來, 為自己的理想付出過很多努力,
可惜在香港始終大志未酬, 不過世上並無懷才不遇,
但願在另一個國家可找到能讓我發揮的空間.

維期一年的工作假期, 即將開始.......

(很高興找到這個討論版, 我想我到步後還有很多事情要向各位請教的... 先謝謝你們.)

depending on your expectations: we do have some local LYKers who regularly hangs out (informally), and would like to welcome you in open arms during your work/holiday stay in Vncvr.

welcome to the westcoast, this is the breeding ground for creativity. in asia, i find to be quite confined by family and social structures to have any creative thoughts and innovations. u must try the psychedelic experiences here, it is quite amazing.

you can check out bus route map and schedule with the translink site:

With Canada Line, once you can get yourself to No. 3 Rd, it's pretty easy to bus around Richmond.

Welcome to Canada.

I met a girl who joined working holidays and also from Hong Kong when I took a course last year. She just went back to HK after spending 1.5 yrs in Canada. Other than studying, she worked in a fast food shop. Afterwards, she was working in a lodge at Lake Louise when she travelled to Alberta. During her stayed in Canada, she learnt snowboard, saw north pole light and tried different things. Hope you'd also have a fruitful and incredible experience in Canada. :)

thank you very much for sharing!! I am sure I will also have a wonderful time here! But I have a question: you say she was here for 1.5 years? Is it legally possible? As I know, working holiday visa cannot be extended and 1 year is the maximum...

I believe she extended her vistor visa that allows her to stay here for additional 6 months. However, she cannot get a vaild work permit anymore once her original work permit expired. I guess it happens just like what you said "1 year is the maximum".

I can try to line-up this gal with you via facebook or via email if you have a particular questions want to ask. :)

哈哈~~ 你讚我中文好我都有點不好意思啦~ 讚我英文的話~ 我真的不敢當啦~~ 我只是初來報到~ 在座各位才是前輩~ 不過其實呢... 小妹以前o係美國那邊讀過幾年書, 然後返左香港, 但因為一直都喜歡北美這邊的生活, 所以有機會便再過來了~ 嘻嘻~~

至於找工作方面, 相信有點眉目的了, 至少做著方向正確的事... 如果落實了, 我一定會向大家報告~ 多謝你們一直陪著我呀~~ 我真的很感動的~~ 哈哈~

我都嚟咗呢邊好多年，啲英文都一樣咁屎。。。
隔咗成年無返工，突然好似講到辭不達意咁。。。唉。。。

在下三張嘢之前好中意講英文，一來是工作需要，二來是離開學校沒多久，英文仍然"新鮮" ，曾經是黑人憎"見人講鬼話" 嗰類番書土佬。但隨著97後在香港/大陸工作時間越長，英文使用量明顯減少，始終不是自己母語，又少用，原來是真會退步的。近年覺得用英文已經表達不到自己腦中所想的兩成，索性放棄算了。在下不覺得可惜，感覺打開另一道門，中國文化真系好精采，好好玩，真係唔講得笑咁豐富 ....

講真，我就算喺學校都唔多講英文，見到中國人樣就第一件事問佢識唔識中文，唔識廣東話咩，零願學國語都唔講英文，攪到學咗一口台式國語俾人以為係台灣妹。其實都唔係幾啱嘅。

要到出嚟做嘢先至頂硬上講英文。好彩公司係聯合國，咩口音都有，先至無咁礙眼。

廣東話好玩呀，保存住中華千年文化底醞，用字抵死啜核，
普通話其實好粗淺，南方好多細緻思想習尚，普通話根本講唔出。
而香港話比起傳統廣州話又更添新意，總之嶺南文化，好好玩。

閩南話好啊，值得學，上海話就算了，感覺上海人自己都不大喜歡說上海話呢~

唔識講廣東話既同學/任何人........全部通通同佢講英文~~~

雖然我本身自己都唔係話好流利.........
不過我發覺如果我有邊一排焗住要係咁講英文，又真係會順好多~
一有一輪唔多講英文時又係要多諗幾下先講到 @@
