Encore at Wynn Las Vegas  $545.91
Aria at CityCenter $513.90

I suggest you to stay in Aria (or even better: Vdara) , Cosmo is good too.  modern style.  I like that they are new and right in the center.  If you like shopping more rather than gambling, it is a better choice.

Palazzo / Venetian / Encore - Very Nice too.   I haven't stayed these three before. European style.   Try it out!  may be you like it.

Bellagio   not suggest la.
作者: fibbi    時間: 2012-8-9 10:43

I stayed in Venetian...not like it (maybe because i was giving a no good room). Looks old and dark (no view at all).

Encore and Wynn are very nice. (Encore even better). But poor location IMO. Too far away.

I almost pick Bellagio last time but didn't. But I do think the new one would be better.
And I heard Vdara has no casino. For non-gamblers would be great.

Another tips for you..  Rent a car. (look for priceline or car site for deal).   End up you pay much less and more flexible.   Driving in Vegas is not tough.  Very simple.  If you driver, either park in self park or valet.  Valet is free.  U only need to pay tips.  few bucks.    I usually do valet if go to high class hotel, like venetian.. lol.

If you really want to taxi, then remember, tell them you want to go on the strip instead of highway to your hotel.    Highway is 'faster' but it is a longer route. Actually, the taxi driver should ask you because by law they have to drive u with the shortest route.  But most of them don't do that.  Keep that in mind.  Not only when u go from airport to hotel, even hotel to hotel, tell them u don't want to go on highway.   Of course, provided that you are not in rush.
Also, remember one more thing, except for driving u from Airport to Hotel which has an extra fee, other than that, you only need to pay the number on the meter and tips IF they provide u good service.   Yes.. They are tricky.  One of the mother fcuker try to charge us tax on top of the meter, with hotel fee, and with tips.  like double the actual cost.  Of course, we didn't pay that.    So, treat those taxi driver as greedy mother fcuker and you can save a lot.

That's my tips to help you have a happy trip.

If u like, I can give u tips for food..etc. hahaha   I have been to vegas at least 10 times in last two years.
作者: rainbow-davie    時間: 2012-8-9 10:45

Also, for hotel, the price you are putting up is weekend price (Fri-Sat).
FYI, Sunday - Thursday normally is way cheaper.  especially Sunday if not long weekend.

You should go to priceline or other hotel deal site to check it out.  I've never paid full price to stay at  these hotels.
作者: fibbi    時間: 2012-8-9 10:50

driving on the strip? traffic is SOOOOO busy wor....the taxi meter goes faster than my heart beat!

I did rent a car last time (for the first time), sadly I can't find any deals...(I was upset because everyone said there's deal and renting car should be cheap...)
I had a van and then pickup/drop off at different location...maybe that's why.
But if anyone has good tips on renting a van...plz share..seems like all deals are just for sedan.

No.. driving in the strip is not bad.  U know how much longer if you go on highway?  I have calculated out. that's much cheap to ask the taxi to drive on the strip than highway.   But.. I had too many bad experience with taxi.  So, still.. I will say no taxi.

For rental, usually you can find something less than $10 a day for compact car.  of course, they will ask you to buy insurance.  U don't need to buy the expensive one. just the normal one.  So, end up about $20-30 a day.   Hey.  one taxi trip already $10.  if you go from hotel to hotel to hotel, at least $50 on taxi a day.

and nowaday, in Les vegas, u rent car from one place, and drop at the same place. It is centralized now.  and there is shuttle from airport to the car rental building.  and you can find all rental companies there.
i just did a simple search in google a minute ago and went to some 'low fare' 'cheap rental' car site and i see rate from $11-15 a day from Budget etc.

well.. just my 2 cents that I will tell anyone I know going to Vegas. Rent a car.  Don't take taxi.

Since you are Vegas newbie, here's what I have to say.

When: Vegas is good all year around, I will not go during summer months. Those 3 months you asked for, they are all good.

Accomodations: Why pay for 5 stars when you are out most of the day? My last "super-cheap" stay at Vegas is at Circus Circus, not as new, but sufficient. On your 3 choices, I go for: Aria at CityCenter $513.90, Palazzo $556.98, Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas $559.61

Transport: Rent a car - last time I bidded a mid-size for like $18/day + tax at priceline. I drove about 150 miles in 5 days (mostly outside of the strip). Bring your own GPS, get ICBC for out of country rental coverage and you are all set.

What to do: Shows, shows, shows + shopping. See Vegas.com for shows and shopping at Fashion Show Mall and Premium Outlet is a must. We saw most of Cirque Du Soleli and they are AMAZING!

What to eat:

1 - Lotus of Siam for dinner
Best Thai ever. Order garlic prawns, one of the fried sea bass dishes and massaman curry. That will fill you 2 up easily. No reservation needed. Lots of room. DO NOT go for the lunch buffet.

2 - Bouchon at Venetian for breakfast
Either go at 7AM or after 9AM. Get a patio seat - wait if you must. Worth it. The dinner is French bistro -- kinda meh for the money. No reservations taken.

3 - Milos at Cosmopolitan for lunch
Get a patio seat. Seriously. Get the lunch prix fixe. If you like it, I recommend paying extra for the octopus appie. Sooooo good. Order the whole fish for your main. It's huge and a ridiculously good value. The included desserts are meh. But you won't care coz you'll be so full by then. I don't think they take reservations... but you might want to check.

4 - Fukuburger for late late night (11PM+)
AMAZING burger. These guys know flavour profile and just exactly how much to put onto the bread. Get the tamago burger - it's their specialty. Order whatever else you like. There WILL be a lineup. The later you go, the smaller the line. I'm talking 2 AM...

5 - Raku for dinner/late-dinner
Order the agedashi tofu - best I've EVER had. Order anything on their specials menu. Make reservations at least a week in advance. I'm not kidding.

What to watch out for: Time Share people, they will offer you free/discounted stuff and just kindly tell them "I am leaving today". If something is too good, it is probably. Go to Walmart the first thing you leave airport, pickup some bottle water for cheap, you will need it.

Get the most out of the trip:
Priceline, Hotwire, Kayak are your friends. You can also sign up for hotel's email list to get some special discounts too. If days are flexible, watch for WestJet Vacation, AlaskaAir Vacation sites, they may have package that will save you lots. Fly from Bellingham via Alaska or Allegiant is about $200 cheaper than YVR per person.

For priceline and horwire, you can try your luck to bid a 4-5 stars for under $100/night. Please do the homework before and check the overall pricing as they are final. They have a bid history for Vegas and I go by that.

I try to go to Vegas once a year as it is very economical.. but my wedding is soon so I need to save up.

Finally... if you ask me, I will leave the kids at home. Vegas is not kid-friendly. :-)

PS. Get me a bottle of wine in Total Wine! They are like the superstore of wines!

Any reasons why Aria >> Palazzo >> Cosmopolitan ?
Thanks for your wonderful suggestions.... Love it....
作者: fibbi    時間: 2012-8-9 15:58

Actually....vegas is not that bad w/ kids...
I would bring my bb again when she's a bit older ...here's what I think kids can do: take the gondola ride in venetian, go to M&M store, 3D iMax movie (i think they still have)
And just to walk around different mall could be enjoyable...(there's a large toy store inside Caesar Palace mall.

And why stay in 3 star hotel when staying in 5 or 6 star hotel is just the price of 3 star hotel elsewhere?

I have no preference on those 3 because they are all new and luxrious.

If you shop around, I am sure MGM Grand, New York New York could be booked at less than $90 a night. I was able to book New York New York for $80 a night from Priceline, then I asked nicely at checkin, they gave us a quieter building on the 34th floor. It was quiet.

Vegas is noisy all day around, so ask nicely and see if they could upgrade/change to a better room.

Which online booking site is better?
Or should I book from the travel agent?
作者: Jennie    時間: 2012-8-10 10:06

I think it's cheaper to buy an air+hotel package from a travel agent. I paid about $650 per person for West Jet+ 4 nights in the Venetians in September 2009. They were having a promotion then, the 4th night was for free.
BTW, the room in the Venetians was big with one king-size bed. 3 TVs, (1 in the bathroom, but no view.

I thinking booking thru travel agent should be cheaper if you depart from Vancouver.
BUT ... if you depart from Bellingham, it should save even more...
作者: rainbow-davie    時間: 2012-8-10 13:34

Oh. by the way, I just got an email with promotion code (20% off + $35 resort credit ) for Vdara

let me know if any of u interested, and I can message u.

By the way, I kinda disagree with Philip.  I had HORRIBLE experience with Circuit Circuit. and it is old, stink and terrified by low-class gamblers.

For newbie to Vegas, i suggest u stay in a Good hotel, not crappy one.  Because only you stay comfortably, then you can enjoy the trip.

For food, one more choice:
In Caesar Palace, the Forum section's lowest floor, there is a steak house "Joe's steakhouse" http://www.joes.net/las-vegas
I had the best steak and best crab cake there.  the boil stone crab crawl is good but not necessary.

Well.. travel agency... I usually book the entire trip myself online and usually can keep under $500 per person with flight & hotel for 4-5 days.

I stayed in several hotels and here is my ranking from top to bottom .

Vdara
Aria
Trump
NYNY
Bellagio
Flamingo
Luxor
Circuit

I tried priceline.com website and I try to bid a car rental. I am unsure if this is the price I need to pay. How does it work?

作者: pkphilip    時間: 2012-8-15 22:26

Basically with Priceline, the final price you see "in green" will be the total you pay. Keep in mind that Priceline bid are final and no refund. If the price is too low, then you will have to wait 24 hours to bid again on the same "grade". You can bid as many as you want as long as you are not choosing the same grade.

I would suggest you read through the fine details in the Name Your Own Price section as there are a lot of small details you may want to know.

Thanks Philip,

I tried Priceline but they only have LV Airport to choose from. I don't want to rent the car until the last 3 days. Do they have any car rental on the strip?
作者: pkphilip    時間: 2012-8-16 21:03

Unfortunately, most of the travel site only offers car rental at the airport. If you need to book a car in the strip, probably need to find it and book it directly.

I think Budget with Costco code is the cheapest in Vegas. Both of my last trips were using Costco BCD codes and by using Express, it's so fast to get it and out.

and if u want to rent on the strip. yes. there is.. but for luxury car only.

if u want to rent the last 3 days only, then just take a cap to car rental centre.  isn't that easy?   or if you like, you can take shuttle from hotel to airport. and take another shuttle from airport to car rental centre.

I am planning to go to vegas AND grand canyon at the same time I definitely need some suggestions.

1.  It seemed like it is much cheaper when buying flight tickets and hotels (or even bidding cars) separately vs. buying the package ......I checked departure for both vancouver and bellingham and I still find doing the "package" myself way cheaper .....  ( and better flight time/ direct flight too if I get my own flights).  Is that true? or am I just missing some great website deals? (I guess I have to be specific for the fact that I would prefer 5 star hotels, preferably cosmo/aria/vdera)

2.  Where and when is the best time to hunt for show ticket deals (or flight deals or hotel deals)?

3.  How much do you guys normally tip for room upgrades and if possible, waiving resort fee ? (I've heard complaining works but I am trying to avoid doing that)
作者: rainbow-davie    時間: 2013-1-29 14:25

free show?  well.. bellagio fountain.  TI volcano??
Come on.. go there just pay for good shows.   I will watch Celine Dion (if still on) for sure.  I did, and it was an incredible experience.  By the way, you gotta dress up.  Don't "Tek Tall" and be Big 6.. ok?

other shows I watched and recommend to watch:
Crique du soleil - Zumanity
Crique du soleil - Mystere
Blue Man show

Dont' watch:
Chris Angel
O
KA

if u like hot guys.. then Jersey boys

New shows..   The dream??

http://www.vegas.com/shows/  just Google.

Suggestion well..
1) Don't go to the damn dam
2) No need to visit all hotels
3) No need to visit the Luxor so called Egyptian Museum
4) No need to go to distant hotels... like circus,,etc or Stratosphere (unless u wanna play roller coaster on the tower)

Suggestion:
1) Drive.
2) Go on the stripe  middle section (from NYNY up to Venetian).
3) Hotel to go: Bellagio (for Buffet), Aria (for Dessert), Caesars (for Steak), Venetian & Palazo for fun & shop.   City Centre & Fashion mall for shopping luxury goods.
4) Food - Don't just buffet all the time.  Restaurants are expensive inside hotel, so far only the steak house in Caesar Forum worth the value.  Else, drive and you can get good and cheap food out of the stripe near China town area. (Vietnamese food is good there)
5) Go Clubbing.  Enjoy the day that you can drink on the street and no worry of drink & drive. Enjoy the night life there.

last.. beware of scam.  Sometimes there are booths in hotel or hotel reprsentatives tell u free show..etc  but you have to attend a resort & spa info session..etc   and with lunch.  Don't fall into that.  Scam.. waste of your time.  Just enjoy and set aside few hundreds for entertainments.. Vegas already cheap in flight, use the money to really enjoy it.
