Can't agree more, SS is the best paid part time job with benefits, pensions, that you can work for life. Also, no one will fire you unless you are doing fraud.

One third of my life was spent there, i even met my gf there. I can say that SS is pretty good if you are going to retire, and still want to get a decent paying job with tons of benefits.

I have to agree...if u want a job that pays u ok and u don't wanna use ur brain...then ss is a pretty good place to work...

When I left before May, Cashier pays $9.8 to start. Benefit starts after 90 days, it includes 100% dental, $200 prescription eyeware (once every 2 years), 100% prescription drugs (purchased in SS). The employer will pay $0.3 per hour on pension I think.

There is also a $37 per month deducted for union due.

Jobs in RCSS are McJobs, you trade your time for money. It's not career, but working in RCSS will get you a lot of experiences with customer service and patients that you can use for your next job. RCSS does not care about the wellness of the employees because they are unionized. Don't expect to receive warmth welcome and friendly management. The management just wants you to come on time, do your job, and don't screw up.

If you want something that gives you more respect, you can PM me, my store is constantly hiring for good people. Although my store doesn't pay a lot, the enviroment is much much better.

what about staring wages as a pharm tech/ pharmacy assistant ( not pharmacist la cuz I know they get really high pay)?

which RCSS did u work in? Marine?

and benefit should start 3 calendar months AFTER the 1st month (1st mth doesnt count into the 3 months)

maybe your's was the older system

Wa 100% dental and 100% prescription drugs. These are pretty good. I guess there may be a cap. Also SS has a younger workforce and they won't take much benefit from these things.

i was paid $8.45 to start without experience/education
i think some of my other co-workers were paid in the range of $9-11 to start depending on education/experience

'cuz safeway and IGA don't have dental plan at all for new employee who hire after 1995
