was gonna donate to red cross to save my trip to hxbc. but i think i will go to hxbc after all, so i am sure it will go toward the earth quake fund. i am not sure if the donation to red cross will go to the earth quake rescue or just their general rescue fund for the world.

If you click the above red cross link, you can see the Fund Designation section.
You can select china earthquake as for the donation.

Actually for redcross, they will set a budget. If the budget is met, then even you designate it to go to earthquake fund, it will go to other funds.
