The one on Fraser that has 24hr or emergency services?? That one I've read from internet they are below par! They charge less, it's true, but that's it!
I am very sorry to hear what happened to your Chow Chow.
It's so strange the staff there would tell you not to visit your dog. When my 12 yr old Cocker Spaniel had to stay at the vet's for 2 days, they let us visit him whenever we wanted. We also left with him a used towel from home so he has something familiar to sleep with. My boy wasn't eating nor drinking when we were not there but finished everything when we were around. Just imagine how scared our dog would be taken away from home and locked in a strange place? How well can a sick dog recover when he is scared and lack security on top of that? I am not blaming you, richmond_guy, I am just mad at this vet!
I suggest you find a reputable vet and bring your pekinese for an exam now.
Doctor Dear (in Richmond) is expensive but he is really a good vet. And I stress again, be prepared, he is expensive. But I think it's all worth it.作者: makten 時間: 2008-6-9 19:41
My dogs used to go to the Richmond Animal Hospital on No.3 Rd between Francis and Williams...Very friendly and responsible staff and vet...
To me...I rather drive a bit more to get my dogs better treatments...(Although I lived just across the animal hospital back then...)作者: Blue 時間: 2008-6-9 21:49

I have had lots of bad experiences with the one on Fraser x 41st too, and I have posted my experience on LYK before so I am not going to elaborate on it this time because it cause me too much pain. Anyway frontdesk staff unorganized, vets unskilled. Bad experiences from small things like they lost every single leash I left with them, to big things like they can't even perform euthanasia with the right amount of dosage and had to go into the back for more.
But regarding 子官脹大 problem... I had a pomeranian who had the same illness at around age 10, and at the time we took her to the SPCA hospital in vancouver. SPCA is reasonably charged but in a sense they might charge more, because they insist on doing all the blood tests and other detailed diagnostics before they will give your pet's condition any type of treatment. (Other vets sometimes give you an option to wave detailed diagnostics in order to make them seem cheaper in price... so that they have a "guess" on what illness your pet has and what treatment to give.) However regardless of the charge, in the end they performed two surgeries to remove the infected parts (because it was a difficult and long surgery, my dog was old the first surgery started to get stressful so they decided to stop and do the rest in a 2nd surgery at a later time.) all this might seem complicated and she recovered very well and was jumping/running around happily even on the day we took her home from SPCA (i haven't seen her do that for a while).
Long story short, find a better vet, it does make a difference. I don't goto SPCA with my current dog I'm going to one on Kerrisdale called WBVC, they are all very nice people and all the staff remember my dog everytime I go back. I still go back to the fraser one but only to buy Revolution for my dog because they are so close, not for anything else......作者: smt 時間: 2008-6-28 10:07
