nicely done... where did u book this package?
or did you do it all yourself?

and how did you get to hoover dam and grand canyon...
作者: PreciousMoment    時間: 2007-12-6 12:06

I book through a travel agent. The holiday package is from Alaska Airline.

In order to get to the Grand Canyon, you will need to book it either in the hotel or those counter on the strip. I suggest to do it at your Hotel for safety. The tour recommended by the Hotel will be a bit expensive, but it should have better quality. And the whole Canyon tour took us around 14 hours. So, please make sure you did not book any shows or dinner at that night, you won't be back to Vegas before 9pm.

i will be going in 2 weeks, any places you recommend to go eat at?
作者: PreciousMoment    時間: 2007-12-6 17:01

For dinning, it is a very personal preferences.
There are a lot of top class restaurants among all those high class hotels.
There are also a lot of famous buffet along the strip.
However, you have to reserve ahead as Vegas is always a very busy place.
Moreover, you need to make sure if you are going to watch any shows at night. I don't think you can always have good dinning and shows at the same night.

So, maybe do some researches on the web:

http://www.lasvegas.com/restaurant/

For my day 1, this is what I did.
I went to Mandalay Bay and buy the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef/buffet package.
So, with one ticket, you can go to the Shark Reef and have their buffet with a cheaper price.

For those days that we had plans, we just went to food court, McD for a quick dinner.

Thank you so much for this review ar! I"m actually going to Vegas in 2 weeks, 5 days as well!

So may I ask which hotel u stay? How do u like it?

And the show that you watch (Magic show?) will you recommend?

And where did you join the great canyon tour and about how much per person?

Thank you!
作者: PreciousMoment    時間: 2007-12-6 20:34

1) We were staying at Planet Hollywood (good location, very new casino and lobby). We asked for a strip view room and ended up with a big honeymoon suite.

2) The magic show was Hans Klok with Pamela Anderson. Hans is very good at fast illusions. The show was okay as it is cheap (only $50).

3) We joined AIRBRIDGE grand canyon tour. (Toll free 1-800-634-6787, or 702-597-5970). Our tour was the "South Rim Bus Tour". It included with a light breakfast, lunch at the National Geographic center. IMAX movie also included. $172 per person (tax included).

Feel free to let me know if you have more questions.

I already mentioned that my tour was $172 per person (tax included).

If you would like to go with the air tour, you can do so.
Most people like to do air tour if they want to save time. However, it will be expensive for sure.

And why most people do not like air tour to grand canyon? Because it is kind of danger (my point of view).

Why it took so long to go to Canyon from LV? Because the Canyon is located at Arizona state. Do more homework and you will understand more about the tour.

Just my 2 cents.

"And why most people do not like air tour to grand canyon? Because it is kind of danger (my point of view)."

dangerous? really? are you serious? why?

I 'm scare of height too.. sound scary bor..
作者: PreciousMoment    時間: 2007-12-11 17:01

Your friend must be making a joke to you. Be careful girl. For 2 hours of driving, you can see Canyon from far. For 5 hours of driving, you are in the Canyon, feel it for yourself. For a round trip, it will take you 10 hours of driving, so, you only have 4 hours to walk around and do visiting there.

Read this:
http://www.usatourist.com/englis ... as/exploration.html

Grand Canyon National Park is about 100 miles east of Las Vegas but it requires a 300 mile, five-hours drive to reach the South Rim Visitor's Center.

Why danger?
Many people died each year when visiting the Canyon. 2 days before I visited Canyon, a 4 years old  girl died there.

do not go to see the KA show..... haha... It should have been called ZZZzz ZZZzzz.

PH is cool, they have hot girls wearing close-to-nothing, dancing in the middle of some back-to-back casion tables... They don't stink too! (I meant the hotel... not the girls).

From my own experience, if you want to have fun in Vegas, be prepared to spend money. Rent car, join tours, see shows are all spending.  Vegas is really a "city of options"  There are some good deals that you can dig out of the strip, but talking about the most materialistic city in the world...Free view at Grand Canyon VS Glass Walkway VS Helicopter Tour is huge difference depending on level you want to spend.

The more you're "willing" the better the experience you'll get.

I'm going from Dec 21 to 25, mainly to watch LeeHom and Jacky's concert.  The rest of the time will be shopping, browsing, and enjoying some good food.  Any tips and coupons to share?

not all shows are for guys. What I'm about to update on my blog is about the free shows that's a must see. Then again, there are shows explicitly for guys but there are also shows that girls will be really interested to see as well, but those...well, require you to pay entrance fees.  Either way, I'll mention both of those shows in later blog updates.

bf and i just returned from vegas last night: 4 days, 3 nights at bellagio.

buffets at wynn and bellagio were pretty good, especially the one at wynn; paris was so so in comparison.

we also went to hilton's "star trek: the experience" (around 43 bucks each)
and "madame tussauds's wax museum" at the venetian (around 26ish each).
Both were not bad~ Never watched any star trek movies but the simulations were fun~

didn't get a chance to see other paid-shows, maybe next time

get some coupon books from the caps and at the monorail stations, you'll save quite a bit in some shows~

  have fun~!

Macau > Vegas
作者: fibbi    時間: 2007-12-30 02:33

I just got back from 5-day Vegas trip too.
Just let me share some of my experience la...
To save some $, we decided to fly from Seattle airport. By doing that we save about $200/person! We parked the car the in the nearby parking lot (Seatac Parking. They provide shuttle bus to airport. The parking lot is fenced and the shuttle bus to/from airport is quite frequent. We spent around $60 for 5 days (with tax), after discount on the online coupon.
We stayed in Madalay Bay for 3 nights and Wynn for 1. The room in Madalay Bay is more on the contemporary side, got a 40" LCD tv as well. Work out to be around $100/night and definitely worth the price. Locationwise it's a bit far but there is free shuttle-train that goes to Luxor and Exculibar (just right across New York New York). In Wynn, we got upgraded to Panoramic view room on the 58th floor, facing the strip. It's a bit expensive than MB but service is just excellent. Both the TV and Phone menu have my name (the person who make the reservation) displayed. Very personalized service la...
While we are lining up to check out, there is hot chocolate with whipped cream served.
Didn't do much otherwise becuase I got sick after the first day...it's 0C...got a cold right away while walking on the strip...
