so how much tips do u usually pay? 10%

10% is standard
but remember you already pay for what you get
and the tips.... you just pay when you're happy with it.
don't feel bad for not paying tips.

like come on... surcharges on airfares, mails, carbon taxes on gases.... didn't we pay enough?

Oopss..

I was going to say for hair-cut.. my place charge anywhere between $12-15, no matter what I always pay $20-

$20 tips on hair cut ??  wah ..  EL ..  you are so nice ..

I think he means $20 flat, so the tips would be from$5-8... though that is still huge!

One restaurant near Monks Mcqueen in granville island, specfy on the menu 17%.
I would say FU, why the hell we are forced to pay that much.
U wanna to make more get more education or trade. Same reason I busted my as* to go thru school, so I can enjoy better life.

~ 15% tips for resturants is normal wor ..  ( chinese rest ..  less )

I dont agree with it .. but seems like most place want to rise the 15% standard, to 20% ..

Pretty all hotels, you are "forced" to pay 17-18% ..

That is why, they can afford to have hot waitress .. lol

And that is how they can  make $50K plus in their pocket ..  that is like equal to ~$80K before tax ! lol

the store use to charge 18 for a haircut. so i give them 20 in total.
now they charging 20 for haircut. so stop giving them tips.
so in total they still earn 20 from me.

yes. i'm so cheap

u need to tip when you get a haircut??
doesn't the fee already cover the service?
I thouight we tip at a restaurant because the fee covers the food so thus we must tip to cover the service
....hmmm never tipped a hair stylist in my entire life

I am cheap ... hair cut is the only reason why I go CHina town ..

$33 and I pay $5 tip .. I dont know why ..  I think it is common sense ? every single salon in HK ..  people pay tips ga bor ..

No need to pay extra tips in HK ...
Their prices already included with tips in HK..

If the haircut price is $18 I pay $20...
Usually I pay some "even" number lor...like if the price is $33 then I pay $35...but in general around 10%.

My mom in HK used to tip as well, some $ to the hair stylist and less to the person who wash her hair.

I think 10% tip is ok...but western salon kinda "force" (ok they "reccommand")  you to pay at least 15%...so I rarely go...
Yeah..I'm cheap too..

you can affort $33 for hair cut. thats not cheap
since the salon increased their price to 20 from 18.
i stop going there. and found another place that charge 18.
and i can continue to be my 豪客 by paying 2 dollars tips

I usually pay $5 tip if the stylist isn't the owner. If he/she is the owner, I don't pay tip.

20% unless they have bad service then it will be like 5% for them

o yah, same here, my haircut was 18 den pay 20.. but if they raise to 20, den i dun pay~ it's like 30 mins service, i didn't use any of the facility (maybe just the hairdryer for 2 mins?)

as for the fu lay ji i got yesterday, he charged me 150, i just gave him 150... not much service anywayz, he kept busy w/ other customers & fone call. & my hair is just a bit below shoulder

Why pay tips?  Never pay tips and I don't think it's cheap; otherwise, people have to pay tips everywhere.

Honestly, we already pay for the service regardless if it's a haircut or a restaurant. The server or whoever does get their cut of pay already, it's called their wages...... If you don't think you already get paid enough, talk to you boss. If your boss think he didn't receive enough to pay you more, tell your boss to revise the menu/hair cut charge.....

I tip 10% when I think service is average for the establishment. If service is below the level of the establishment, be prepared that I'll ceiling the total to the nearest dollar. 15% is the max I'll pay for high end restaurants. 20% if it's a lower level place and the service is exceptional.

Normally I would pay 10%.  If I'm satisfied with the quality of food/service, sometimes I would pay 20%.

haha yeah.. it is $20- flat.  However, I decided $20 is ok la, cuz I have been other expensive places where I don't think they are as good anyway.
