my family and friends had dinner at Maruwa sushi (iron wood plaza, steveston hwy and No. 5 road, rmd). before we started our dinner, we saw something very disgusting. they RECYCLE the green tea. every time when the waitress assumes/color] the customer have not drank the green tea, she will pour it back to the tea pot.

then my friend did a test. he told the waitress that he didn't want to have green tea ,but a glass of cold water. then the waitress took the tea back and put it a side. after she gave my friend a glass of water. she took the tea pot to the sink and tried to use her back to hide the tea pot and poured back the green tea into the tea pot. GROSS~~~~~ once the tea has been handed to the customer, it taken right? she could not keep eyes on every single cup, how could she know customer didn't take a sip of the tea?

why does the owner allow(order?) her to do that?

r u serious?  that restaurant is one of my favorites in Richmond!!!

recycled green tea by authentic  Japanese restaurant is hard for me to imagine .. unless they put those $30/100 gram high grade matcha ....

Just reminded me ... in Turkey, it is normal to recycle the breadbasket ...

Are you calling me. Sorry, one 'h" to much.

That's also beyond my imagination. Teapot or breadbasket I can understand.....

But one thing for sure that isn't waitress's idea. What good does it do to the waitress, it is much easier to dump several cents tea to the sink than sneak behind customer. An employee wull be care less about the employer to spend a few cents more.  If you tell the owner, the waitress will be the scapegoat, you will never get the truth. The best will be as JPG said.

Perhaps the waitress is the owner's wife or something alike ?!

No eye see.

When I eat out with friends or family. If there were some left over and we did not want to take away, we always poured some tea or soyo source over the food to make sure it cannot be recycled. Maybe I shouldn't go to those restuarants if I worry the food might be recycled.

did the waitress pour tea from ur cup to their teapot?
or from ur teapot to their teapot?

teapot to teapot is still unacceptable...
just less disgusting.

edit: ohhh guess i missed the last sentence... so it's cup to teapot?
