i was typing my 7-page paper that's due this friday... it was all going well until i press CTRL+ S to save it, it said it cannot be saved and is not corrupted. It had saved to a different file (.tmp) and when i opened this one...i can't believe my eyes, everything is GONE!
does any LYK computer expert know how to revive it?

do you have auto recovery? that could be one option
another option would be to try pressing file menu and then see if you have your doc as a recent file
good luck la作者: WaruiOne 時間: 2007-11-29 08:29
hmm... usually if something like that happens, when you open word again, it should give you the option of recovering the file ga wor. and ya, maybe checking the file menu section as well.
if not, that would suck! you know! they should have an option to have "auto-save" like in some games, so even if you forget to save for a while, you'd have some part of it saved like every half hour or 10 mins or something. it would be a lot safer!作者: celeron_266 時間: 2007-11-29 10:37
i am suprised it happens after only seven pages
sometimes word do weird things if the document is too huge.....like what you have seen right now
i usually save the file as an rtf right away if i saw this....rtf fime doesnt seem to have such a problem
to recover it...ummm...if the temp file have nothing..then the whole thing hadnt even saved into the drive at all....did you close office after you see the error?
waruione: autosave is actually available in office...but if word start to do weird things like i mentioned above....autosave wont be able to save as well...
Try to do a search on the temp folder (located within the Windows folder)?作者: 阿邊個邊個 時間: 2007-11-29 21:19
guess what? it was 2am and most uni friends are online in MSN, i bugged one of them and tell him what happened, i sent him my corrupted files (becomes 45 pages full of squares and nonsense Chinese words), he opened it with another software called Open Office. He said the first paragraphs were corrupted but the reminder were OK.... so i asked him to save as and send that to me again... i opened it and it was okay... just that i needed to type my intro paragraph....

Good to hear that. You should set auto save so at least you should have backup.作者: pkphilip 時間: 2007-11-30 00:13
I am actually recommending Open Office to a lot of people who cannot afford MS Office. It has functions and looks similar to Office 2003 and it's free!!
