On the past Friday, my bro was at metro town; inside the mall, not outside. He was somewhat near coach. There were three guys, one white and I believe two black. They had jump on him and punch his face, and took his bag. There was a lady that scream out “what are you guys doing?" then the security from coach hear it and chase after those three teens in the mall. They were running out towards Kingsway. No one help to stop those teens when they were running in the mall.

this happen INSIDE the mall...

that's sad. i was there the day after, on saturday.

is ur bro ok? reported to the police yet? can the surveillance camera capture their faces?

I still remember years ago my frd got carjacked by some guy outside crystal mall… right across from the police station… and the guy was runing away from the securities at metro… he grabbed some stupid woman’s purse who put her bag on the shopping cart at metro.

Sometimes I think HK is relatively safer since there less chance of someone jumping on you… they mostly steal, not rob.

hk is not relatively safer, its A LOT safer then vancouver.

metro is where all the wannabe gangster roll... what do you expect?

yeah when u hv a justice system that is so lax...what do u expect?

feel sorry for your brother

not only the justice system, the education system is flawed too, lack of moral/disciplinary  teachings, and no social responsibility

yeah, he had report to the RCMP already.

omg..  I hope your bro is okay..

I saw a fight involving 20+ ppl outside the Disney store too.  I heard some guy say that it was about two guys wanting to buy the same Disney present for the girl. lol

One bank inside the metrotown just got robbed too...

hope ur bro is alright....

but...i shall stay out of metro for a while now................

it's not just metro. the same with richmond centre too. my coworker was at the food court with her friend. she had a $10 bill sitting under her paper cup drink right in front of her. she was thinking about what to buy for lunch. and this guy just ran over and took the $10 bill and ran off.

a note to everybody, don't leave your money on the table like that in general. be careful....

LOL, r u serious? fighting over a disney present?
I can imagine a guy with a black eye and a lost tooth talking to his girl "Honey, I fought 20 guys to get you this Mickey Mouse!"

LOL i'm serious that's what I heard! That would definitely be sweet in a twisted sort of way

Vancouver is seriously getting messed up, but HK is pretty freaky too. depends on how you look at it...on another note, on deciding who to vote for in this election, i was looking at the 3 major parties to see who has a commitment on beefing up our security in this country...

SURPRISE! no party seems to care and none of them even TOUCHED on security/safety...all they talk about are cutting tax $$$, the economy, and just attacking their opponents...dont get me wrong, while the economy is important, isnt the safety of civilians just as critical?

how's hk pretty freaky?

you dont find hk freaky?

- rude/uneducated people
- wei yuen ah bak's spitting everywhere (and poking their things into places...=P)
- always feel like u're getting ripped off one way or another
- Sales people in malls who constantly get in your face even though you've politely rejected w/e they're trying to offer you
- bums ganging up on people on streets
- once night rolls around, gangs roam the streets
- teenagers committing suicide when their hearts get broken...(u dont tend to hear that happening here in North America as much...)

BUT vancouver has issues of its own, so im not here to just bash HK, and HK still has it's good traits. i just tend to be very pessimistic w/ HK cuz I dont feel very comfortable when I walk around the streets, always feels like im gonna get robbed. and when i walk around at night, i always feel like someone's gonna grab me into a back alley and start beating the crap outta me...just for me that it feels unsafe in HK...

people in hk live in fear most of the time so it's easier to be paranoid (such as the constant contamination of different foods). here, even though there's crime and all that, the events are usually tied to gangs somehow (in general). there seems to be a lot more crazy people in hk w/ mental illnesses. so the chances of a random attack (without reason) is greater

some might disagree with what i have stated, but that's just my own opinion, there's no right or wrong answer to begin with. it's all "gwoon deem yu gok dou"

lol i've also realized there are a lot of seemingly "unstable" people residing in HK as well.  those ladies that talk to themselves or those men who stare at a wall and start arguing with it....

all the stuff you posted does not affect the safety of others.  all the points you pointed out are harmless to others and doesn't even happen.   does rude/uneducated ppl point a gun and start shooting? will a old man spitting kill you?

there are hardly random attacks in hk.... even if so, its not fatal.  most likely just posted on youtube or go on newspaper.

all fatal attacks in hk is targetted.   there are hardly any koo wat jai that minds other ppl's business anymore.  they wont just mess with u for no reason.

ppl in hk dont carry a gun around, you won't get shot while going to the mall.  you wont get stab by brown ppl in the club.  you won't get rob walking down the street.   there are actual police in hk that catches criminal.

For a pussy like you that think even HK is dangerous.. why are you living in vancouver?   do you think vancouver is safe?  there are more shootings in metrotown in a month then HK in a decade.   HK is one of the safest cities on earth.   You probably won't even survive for 1 second once you enter china.

Nice random attack you got going there. If Im the big pussy, then what are you? Attacking people on forums for speaking their mind is a REAL non pussy thing to do. We truly need more cocky people like you on earth (who THINKS they're always right) to make everyone else think their opinion isn't worth a dime. Did I NOT mention that what I've stated is strictly my opinion? And that it's not for losers like you to agree that I'm right or to prove that I'm wrong.

Why are YOU living in Vancouver then if you think Vancouver is so unsafe?

I'm all for people speaking their mind, but there's a thing called critical feedback. Oh sorry, you're probably not educated enough to do that.

this just pop back into my mind. on sunday morning around 3:30ish am... my mom co-worker was leaving his house going up Joyce street towards Kingsway. when he was driving up to kingsway on the outter lane, there was three black or brown guy ran towards his car. he quicky pull over to the inner lane and step on it to stay away from them.
i guess those guys thinking that he is the only one in the car, gonna go rob him.
some weird guys..

These people tend to go to Skytrain stations. What would happened when the Aberdeen station opens? They would go to Richmond as well.

there was rumors saying that "renfew" skytrain will build a apartment.
it's gonna be so "mix" there... more things are gonna happen.

I agree...where skytrain goes crime goes with it.  We really need a better paying system than the ungated honest system...

Metro was always known for being dangerous, especially at night.  It's better to travel with a group of friends.

- rude/uneducated people

there are rude/uneducated people all over the world.
most of ppl I know are polite and educated.

- wei yuen ah bak's spitting everywhere (and poking their things into places...=P)

no one force you to go to victoria park when wei yuen ah bak are there.

- always feel like u're getting ripped off one way or another

really? I have no such feeling.

- Sales people in malls who constantly get in your face even though you've politely rejected w/e they're trying to offer you

which malls? Those "sales" who get into your face are mainly credit card promoter and internet service promoter. no big deal and they would not hurt you.

- bums ganging up on people on streets

which streets? I seldom see that.

- once night rolls around, gangs roam the streets

why don't you stay at home at night? are you one of the gangs?

- teenagers committing suicide when their hearts get broken...(u dont tend to hear that happening here in North America as much...)

not only teenagers, many adults committing suicide too. ppl in North America won't do that because they choose to kill others instead of killing himself.

this is true. never pull out your money, just do it when there is a transaction.
by the way, why do ppl want to pull out their money in open area?

look now mr.insecure pussy, you got all mad just cuz i called you a pussy, when you said HK is unsafe in the first place, i wanted you to point out the fact so i can laugh at you.

@ mcjohnjohn

i respect ur opinion, and as i mentioned, it's more of a "gwoon deem yu gok dou"

to be completely honest, HK is a great place for vacation, and maybe i havent exactly lived there for a long period of time, so my knowledge of HK is strictly from a tourist point of view. i think i consider HK a less friendly place compared to Van because of the way people act. and for me personally, when my surrounding's not "friendly", it seems to pose a threat. hence my opinion of HK being unsafe caused from the unfriendliness of the people.

i've practically lived my entire life in Van, so it's home to me. maybe i just feel safer at home no matter what happens, so my opinion IS quite bias, i'll admit to that

glad i can be ur entertainment man. i know i got a pretty good sense of humour. just a shame how u cant offer us the same in return.

Dear GAClone,

i think i consider HK a less friendly place compared to Van because of the way people act

I have to agree that ppl in HK are less friendly than most of ppl around the world.
but it does make me feel that it is unsafe. In contrast, I think that I would feel unsafe if neighbourhoods are too friendly...

similar to you, I've practically lived my entire life in HK, so it's home to me. maybe I just feel safer at home no matter what happens, so my opinion is quite bias too. by the way, I strongly respect your opinion too~

(don't angry about those "pussy", "whore", "stupid" words from those entertaining persons here. without them, LYK would be a silient forum.)

HAHA! ya. i think i'd be pretty freaked out too if the neighbourhood was TOO friendly

im sure he has lots of pussy to offer us too. XD and u're right, w/o those type of people around this forum, it will be very dull. and it'll take more than a couple of words to get me mad. if he really thought he got me angry, then im afraid he's wrong once again
