I'm heading to Whistler on Sat with a CRV on all season tires. Just heard on the radio that there will be police doing snow tire check on Fri and Sat. Anyone seen something like that from the last season?

I think it's very common...they won't allow you to go up the mountain without snow tires.

Last year it's either snow tires or 4WD. Don't know if they tightened it to just snow tires or not.

4WD 冇winter tires 都停唔好(架車唔肯停)

4WD + winter tires = killer combo in winter

The best part of snow tire --> Stoping power on ice!!

-31 this weekend .. and 15 cm snow .. yeah .. Real winter driving for me!

So far ... I am hving fun driving on snow this yr ... (last winter .. somehow .. I was mainly driving AWD+all season .. this year .. back to RWD!!!

Police could pull over any car without the proper tires anytime.  But I only saw this happened once during very bad condition on SeaToSky.  Forecast (on radio) said cold but clear sky on Saturday.  I say 95% chance police wouldn't be there.

However, for your own safety, be prepare and drive safe.  I saw too many accidents on seatosky.  And on a good day, there are lots of police out there checking your speed.

Yes, on the road going up to Cypress, police could check for tires on snowy days.  Too many urban people aren't prepare for snow but still rushing to local mountains.  Police will send everyone without snow/chain back home when the condition isn't good for your 4-seasons.

There wasn't any police after all. It was freezing up there!

I was told it was -25 at alpine. My friends went Sunday. Did you ski or snowboard?

I was at Grouse yesterday morning and it was -5 at the top.

I just mean this was what they were looking for before they let you go up the mountain (Cypress last year). I am not saying whether I think 4WD alone is sufficient for winter weathers.

下山? You mean Cypress? They don't check tires on the downhill side for Cypress.

I was there boarding, the snow condition was poor!
