I need a FT job...just graduated not long ago...have been looking everywhere but no luck.

Any other LYK's out there in the same boat? Anybody hiring?
Christmas is draining my reserves....

i tried to look at monster before but a lot of the jobs either need exp or they are really crappy jobs for entry lvl

gum what kind of jobs are you looking for?
most jobs are either entry positions, or "experienced" positions which requires experience ga wor...

dun be too pick with finding your first job la, a lot of times it depends on what you make out of it. Good luck!

whatever you do...... BE PICKY FOR YOUR FIRST JOB!!!!

not that you need it to be high paying or an easy job... but find sth that you know it will be more likely for you to like and also you can stay put there for a while...... even if it’s an internship it is still worth it if it will help you in the future…

trust me, nothing is worst then a jumpy resume... and it is very hard for you to change field later on in life....

I switched jobs 3 times in two years and my first job was quite crapy and I wasn't picky at all.

try applying to be a garbage collector, quite good benefits and compensation.
If you don't have any experience, what makes you think you can get a job that would differs you from your peers?
Did you do co-op during University? or did any kind of part-time?

Comeon, if you don't hire someone, you cannot complete your workload. The experienced people demand $20. The economy here is booming, there are more jobs than people.

medical company died around July

lehman brothers died ard september

GM, Ford and Chrysler are slowly dying

banks, retail, mining are shrinking slowly, some even layoff their internal lawyers and shut off the mines

Seriously, landed on a job first and keep seeking

絕對贊成, 做銀行係好難頂架, D更編到你九唔搭八, 餓你唔死, 但又阻住你撈多份.

其實香港巳經算好定力過以前好多, 只係有班刁民炒輸咗就响度"摞地".

我唔鼓勵駝鳥政策, 但係亦唔駛panic, 積極備戰就夠.

Go either Superstore or T&T, you will be surprised most foods especially snacks go up quite a few.

That is quite true, our economy system is quite different from US, especially we still have water coming from Asia.

梗係勞工階層啦﹐不過都總算係比較上易找啦。。。
D 物價無得話“應該”跌﹐因為事實就係沒有跌﹐反而加了﹐你到處比較下吧﹐據我觀察﹐我地食開的幾處地方 (只是說午飯的地方﹐甚至 T&T 的“痴”飯)﹐甚麼都加了價﹐少則每碟飯加了 $0。25﹐多則加了 $1 都有呢。。。

I know that finding the first job is difficult.  I've been in that situation before. Seeing everyone else got job offers while I didn't get any is not a good feeling by any means.

I'm not in the Vancouver area (or even within BC) so I'm not sure whether my suggestions would apply, but here they are anyhow:
- Don't sit home and wait for phone calls; go out and do volunteer work if you can - it may open doors for you.
- Try visiting the local Human Resources and Social Development Canada (or Service Canada) offices to see if they have any programs for the unemployed
- Visit career offices of local colleges and universities (even the schools that you do not attend); you may find surprises.
- Be confident when appearing in your interviews.  Most Chinese folks (myself included) are more "lay back" and "humble", which a Chinese boss would understand but it's considered a weakness in the Western society. HR people *will* look for them and will in turn score you lower than other candidates.

Well, from my personal experience I have not seen a single person who has gotten into a job based on his/her church connections. (Your mileage may vary.)
