My son doesn't want to sleep at night.

He always cries and 扭計 before he sleeps....but in the daytime, he's ok, he plays and sleeps by himself, and doesn't need people to 抱 him or whatsoever...有乜辦法等佢可以好似日頭咁乖? 佢都算戒咗夜奶, 可以連續訓5-6 hrs...應該都已經識分日夜....

What should i do? Should i just leave him crying until he is tired and goes to sleep?

仲有,有冇試過夜晚帶BB出街..跟住嗰晚會特別扭計???

how old is your son? have you try to give him a bath before sleep? Breast feed or formula?

he's six weeks old....and i always feed him formula before he sleeps at night.

Probably early to see whether he can sleep through night for now. Perhaps just keep doing what you are doing, feed him as frequently and as much during nighttime, as well as some other day time routines. Before going to sleep, keep a sleep routine. Probably give him a bath, sing him a song, read stories and feed him his last meal. Try to be as consistent as possible.

It is probably too much for him to go out at night. Too many simulations and stuffs can make one hyper or tensed. So I think probably your son needs more quiet time to settle down before going to sleep. Leave the activities to day time if possible.

Try to cut down on the time of his daytime sleep, but not too much, otherwise he'll be more fuzzy at night. Maybe he's sleeping too much and too well during the day so he doesn't want to sleep at night. Make him feel as comfy as he can during the night and maybe try to leave a lamp on or have some dim light. Sometimes very light music in the background might help.

Anyway, you pretty much have to try all the combos to see which method works. There's no silver bullet!

My mom said I was like that too when I was a baby. I cry all night long and sleep during day time. (she wanted to kill me at some point, i guess LOL)

She said that the solution is not letting me sleep during day time. Whenever I fell into sleep, she woke me up by tapping my foot lightly. Then I go to sleep at night time.

6 weeks is still very early to expect your baby to sleep over night.  but then all babies are diff.. you are suppose to feed him/her every 4 hours, indeed you are suppose to wake him/her if necessary for feeding, instead of letting him/her sleep through during the day.  Just keep the feeding consistent.

Feeding water is not recommended by the North America standard.  However, it works for us after Dario turned 2+ months.  What we did is feeding just an oz or 2 of water if Dario gets up in the middle of the night..for about a week, then he wouldn't get up anymore.

But then, Dario actually eat lots during the day to a point we don't worry about skipping his meal for the night.

He is 6 months old @ 22+ lbs.  And he can usually finish a 8oz bottle in 10 mins if he likes.

我媽媽話我bb 嗰時晚晚都會扭計唔肯瞓, 扭到攰咗 (有時5am, 有時7am) 先會瞓. 而家大個咗, 好多時候都係唔到凌晨四五點都唔會瞓. 哈哈.

6 week old is too early to train!  Again, every baby is different.  For myself, I have read a book name "Healthy sleep habits, happy child". You can find it at chapters
I follow this book and now my baby has a pretty good schedule.  Some of my friends read the same book and yes, their babies sleep pretty well.

Basically, for babies younger than 4 months, their awake period should be less than 2 hours.  It means he has to be asleep within 2 hours of wakefulness. For example, he wakes up at 10am, then he needs to be asleep by 12pm. His theory is a bit different from our parents' theory (don't sleep too much during day time and baby will sleep better at night).  He said that if baby doesn't have good nap, they won't sleep well at night.  Again, every baby is different.  But for my friends' babies and my own baby, his theory works better.  As I found out that if my baby doesn't sleep well during day time, she is going to wake up few times at night!!!  Early bedtime is also recommended. Oh, he also recommends that sleep training should start at 4 month.

Just remember whatever method you use, stick with it; otherwise, both parents and baby will be confused. Hope this book can help you. Good luck!

我個ＢＢ岩岩好兩個月大，已經完完全全戒左夜奶（由十二點瞓到八點幾九點）

我可以分享我的經驗比你知，係集合兒科醫生，家庭醫生，幼童護理書，同埋我既波蘭同事既意見而成，我覺得很成功。

由佢兩三個星期大開始，我地每一點，五點，九點咁餵佢。餵左一段時間，護士叫我地夜晚 Feed on Demand，唔喊醒就唔好摷醒佢食。日頭就唔好落簾，開少少門窗，佢醒就帶佢出去見下陽光，目的係比佢習慣有日夜既感覺。好快佢晚上差唔多二點餵完，早上六七點先醒，叫做瞓到五個鐘。於是我地日頭佢醒既時候同佢玩多ｄ，有時餵完奶，換左片，又玩完，仲唔瞓，就由佢喊，喊都拆天都係咁話，咁佢就會累ｄ。臨瞓食最後一餐前先同佢沖涼，咁佢就真係好好瞓。

基本上既秘訣係：
１）早上餵密少少（我依家係兩點／五點／八點咁餵六餐），只要佢一天食左足夠既份量就唔洗晚上再食。
２）臨瞓最後一餐餵全formula（因為formula無人奶咁易消化，會飽肚ｄ可以瞓耐ｄ）。
３）早上同佢玩多ｄ（每餐食完同佢玩累先瞓，晚上既餐食完就瞓，唔好同佢講咁多野比咁多刺激佢）。
４）臨瞓食最後一餐前先同佢沖涼。
５）日頭可以同佢出下街（怕凍就同佢行下mall，我覺得Lansdowne Mall 最岩行，又唔多人又闊落又靜）
６）日頭唔好落簾，開少少門窗比佢聽下ｄ聲，要感覺到有陽光，身體時鐘慢慢適應日同夜。
７）晚上臨瞓前唔肯瞓喊，唔好抱佢，一定要好忍得心，最多輕輕拍拍佢，叫佢瞓覺，然後行開。初頭一兩晚可能佢會喊個幾兩個鐘先喊累到瞓，但係過多幾晚，佢喊既時間會越來越短。你忍得心，佢一星期之內就可以唔洗點喊就瞓。要知道有ｄＢＢ既習慣係喊幾句先自己瞓，所以佢喊並唔一定代表要你一定要抱佢。

我個Pediatrician同我講過好多次，一定要忍得心，佢同我講：You'll thank me one day once she can sleep through the night without you picking her up everytime she cries.

Ferber method, aka Cry it Out method, is not meant to be for such young babies. It's generally for babies 6 months and older.

Before you try the cry it out method, make sure you understand the different type of cries that your baby makes (i.e. knowing when he/she is crying for attention or he/she is actually uncomfortable or even in danger).
