you are asking the million dollar question here!! some numbers and/or history can kinda give you the idea when the economy will be better, i will not use the word "good" at this point, for example, it takes six months for the "economist" to gather some DATA to announce we are in recession. And the longest recession in the US history is 2 years time. so we have to think how bad this time is going to be.

(I do understand it was history that i was looking at. will history repeat itself in the economy world? it should be in another topic)

It is estimated that unemployement rate will rise to 9% at the end of this year

I think we might hit double digit!

From news and radio they claim that unemployment rate is beyond what most economist predicted. Yet the market reacted the opposite today.

How much of this doom and gloom is priced in right now? Need to find stuff that have the risk relatively under control if we are in for a longer term depression (hyperinflation and all currency becomes garbage, etcetc), but best positioned for growth when the whole landscape become bullish again...

Boom and bust are one entity altogether.
There will be no boom if there's no bust.

You learn about the world much more in recessions.
The best time to experience a recession is when you are young.

Hear lots of layoff news around my friends in Van. And my friend in HK actually got laid off. Econ is bad definitely...In my opinion, if we got cash on hand, this (or about a few months from now) would be a good time to buy.

Recession

But there are not enough jobs for everyone, right?

競爭 means somebody is going to LOSE.  What is the ultimate result of LOSING?

Here, the people think they are very smart. The country has tons of debt, unemployment is high. The Olympics fiasco is another example of ineptitude.

I went shoping at Richmond Center yesterday.....
I've never seen stuff being sold for so cheap.....bindings at Sportcheck for 60 bucks?? Really?!? Even while it's in season??

And everything else is on sale like it's almost Christmas....except it's not...
