【明報專訊】溫哥華「煙花大匯演」主辦單位日前宣布經費不足，今年煙花節停辦，不過有本地組織發起拯救煙花節活動，並成立savethefireworks.ca網站募款，至昨天晚上為止，籌到6200多元。

「煙花大匯演」已經連續在溫哥華英吉利灣(English Bay)舉行了18年，自從2001年起，由於煙商退出贊助，令到每一年都面臨財政緊張，所幸到最後都能夠籌到400萬元，讓這個大溫地區在夏天最盛大的活動能夠順利舉行，今年受到金融海嘯的衝擊，主辦單位在上個月宣布今年停辦，雖然已經落實大部分的贊助商，但仍短缺數十萬元。

不過，有本地組織不想見到「煙花大匯演」從此消失，於是發起網上募捐活動，呼籲公眾踴躍捐款，讓今年夏天仍然有煙花照亮溫哥華的夜空。該組織成立的網站，至昨天晚上，已籌到6200多元。

主辦單位還在這個星期四舉行一場水上說明會，向公眾傳遞募款的訊息，目標是40萬元，讓這個溫哥華的傳統能夠繼續下去。

i think as long as they can get the money by march..they can still save it...last yr firework was saved around march

如果有一年唔放, 之後香港o係果一年有乜野問題既話, 政府都比人插的...
不過, 睇左咁多年煙花, 小弟一早睇到厭啦, 放唔放都冇所謂lu.

re Nam, according to the website, they said if they can't raise enough money, they will save the money for 2010's firework. Well, if it is really a scam, the small amount of money I donate will be for their good job, but at least I feel better that I have shown my support......(of coz I hope they are for real)
