粗口世界

The following writing contains obscene language with the purpose of pure academic research. Readers are advised not to be offended.

Imagine you greet people with “**** you”. Not with an intention to offend. Nor to express your unwelcomeness towards that particular person. But as a formal greeting. Like saying “good morning”. And that person will understand. Or simply reply out of reflex with another “**** you”.

Consider language within a particular social context. In this case it is considered impolite not to give the first person his/her reply of  “**** you” back. Whether we have consciously agreed or not, there are languages and words in society that are being defined as obscene, inappropriate, or simply, bad.

Why is there 粗口 in the first place

That particular stream of language mainly composes of words that were made to describe certain body parts, and the usage of them. Although as the stream progresses itself, it also has words that go beyond those body parts to describe unwanted situations. e.g. All family dead (hum gar chan) fall on the street.(poke guy). Broadly speaking, the particular body parts and the usage of them, were, have been, are, (and will be) considered as bad, or inappropriate to express in public, in order to maintain a public order.

When 粗口 is the mainstream

Instead of uttering the words “good morning”, a person has to say “**** you”, in order to be accepted. And vice versa, when a person says “good morning” within a social context, s/he will be considered obscene and be rejected. To an extreme, the act of saying “good morning”, or the thought behind that particular action, will be considered unlawful and/or criminalized.

Back to reality

The above scenario does not exist within present reality. However, by realising the position of  粗口 within social context, one might conclude that in the first place, a person who has defined 粗口 as bad,  in order to segregate 粗口 from him/herself. For the purpose, either to turn the 粗口 person into him/herself (eventually in time and/or momentarily by the justice system) or leaving that person alone as the other (within a confined facility such as prison and/or visible ethnic group such as Chinese), as far as history continues by itself.

Conclusion

When it is a must for a politician to swear to get his/her vote
When you do not greet your customers with the words “**** you”, your boss will consider firing you

I conclude myself, within my own world, when “**** you” and “good morning” intrinsically means the same thing (or nothing at all), I reserve the right to remain silent.

BUT...could we have all those swearing posts to "no one drive board"? That is the purpose of that board!

Take the example of smoking...I have NO problem with the person who smokes, but please smoke in the designated area ...

Thanks!

to the hacker:

ALL DILL LAY GALL LO MO AH
HACK HALL BO DIN LOW

playing toy wrote the above statement in response to the hacking that has occurred earlier today.

first statement: i fxxk your mother.
which by itself describes an act that in reality might never happen. and not related to the hacking incident. even when the person announces such a statement into vocal sound waves that can be heard, his/her mind has purely no intention in carrying out such an action in reality. to translate that into cantonese: not going through the brain (ng ging dai low)

the reason when such a sentence happen comes from a place when an individual is facing difficulty in dealing with his/her surrounding. or to quote Mr Toppy's terminology, such a sentence comes from "the hole"

second statement: (dare to) hack my computer.
according to my own observation* that my computer was being hacked. this statement describes the difficulty the person is facing in reality. the reason s/he is wording an incident that has happened in his/her past comes from his/her fear of the recur in future. since the person is, or believe him/herself to be, in a victim position. s/he intends to use such a statement to move his/her position up through the power struggle. similar example will be: gau lan chor. gum lan dai shuet. (what the hell. all these fxxking snow)

first statement: not through the brain
second statement: describes a difficulty in reality that one is unable to change
