For best Coverage.... which foundation would u prefer?

I have been using Laura Mercier... but i want to try something new.....

Hi wlkm,

Different people have different skin types, so it is very hard to judge which foundation have the best coverage.  It is better for you to try different brand at the counter.

For myself,  I like Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation.  I have normal to combination skin in summer and normal skin in winter.  This GA foundation suit my skin very well and it have a medium but natural coverage.

the reason i would ask fellow pretty LYKs for suggestions... it's becoz i have really sensitive skin.... and my face always has some breakouts and pimples.... but i hate to go out with my "red" face esp. for special occasions....

i use GA Luminous Silk Foundation too
super smooth
light/medium coverage
natural radiance finish

i don't think i'll ever change foundation again

i use GA too! super "tip" to the face .. but coverage it''s just ok.. but definitely worth trying!!!!!

I don't usually wear foundation because I want to leave my skin breathable.
For work, I use Make Up For Ever concealer to cover up red spot, and I carry the Lola cream foundation duo compact with me for touch ups throughout the day.
For light to medium coverage, I use Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation. For medium to full coverage, I use Prescriptives Flawless Skin Total Protection Makeup. with SPF 15.  Both of them are very smooth and they work great on my combination / sensitive skin.

I finally bought the Bare Minerals in US... really good coverage... and it claims to perform like skin care treatments....

very excited about it.. will try it out later... hehehe

what's GA stand for?
作者: chihiro    時間: 2007-12-26 22:34

to tweety,
GA = Giorgio Armani

to wlkm,
nice to known you've got your choice of foundation!  but still, it is not good to put makeup on when your skin have breakouts.  so keep in mind to let your skin "breath" when you don't need to apply any makeup! take care of your skin~

i too have sensitive skin. and i hate the feeling of liquid foundation
i personally think i have relatively nice skin =p so i dun use foundation all the time but when i do i use mineral make up~
i've tried bare minerals but i dun like it
i've also tried everyday minerals but it makes my already dry skin even dryer.
im using lumiere's right now. their powder is finely milled and it's very silky~
i used to have some powder and cream foundation from chanel and dior before i came across mineral make up. i think those were alright too~ and i still have a whole tube of traceless (prescriptives). that was the only liquid foundation that i didnt mind to use. it's actually quite nice since it's very sheer. almost like a tinted moisturizer

where can i get mineral make up? i only know i can find Bare Minerals from Sephora...
作者: Little_O    時間: 2007-12-27 08:46

If you want more coverage from your foundation, choose the cream foundations. They should give you more coverage.

I have tried lots foundations, and yeah, I have GA Luminous silk foundation too.  The result is quite natural and sheer, when you don't apply alot.  I found that it is the best to work with its foundation brush.

I also recommend Guerlain Parure Compact Foundation with Crystal Pearls SPF 20 - PA++ , it is not a liquid foundation, it is a powder foundation. It is so easy to apply and the result is very nice and very natural!

Sometimes, for more coverage, I will use Shiseido Hydro-Liquid Compact. It is a cream foundation and also use Guerlain pressed powder to set it. It is very easy to use and the result is very nice too.

Hope this help.

yep sephora =p but i've actually starting to see bare minerals here in canada too. i think i've seen them in some shoppers~

for the other brands you need to go to their own websites and order them online from them~

L'Oreal had a new product called Bare Naturale gentle mineral makeup, and they claims it has "flawless coverage, skin-improving benefits, and safe for sensitive skin."  It may be worth a try?
作者: Alcoholic    時間: 2008-1-1 02:13

but those mineral powders... does it really cover well????
does it give a matt finish or what???
作者: cinderelly    時間: 2008-1-1 03:22

luckily i dun have much flaws to cover up on my face.. so im not sure whether it'll work for other ppl
but it certainly works well for me. it's VERY natural.
i just dust a little all over my face and it evens out my skintones
but im pretty sure the coverage should be good enough for most ppl. it's just like powder foundation.

it depends on wut formula you pick~ if you have dry skin like me you can pick one that has a bit of glow in it. if you have oily skin then they have a formula with a matte finish as well
作者: Alcoholic    時間: 2008-1-1 16:54

hai ar...
i don't have much flaws either...
i just use foundation to look a bit more healthier & less tired~
作者: cinderelly    時間: 2008-1-2 16:42

then mineral make up should work for you too~!! try them out~
作者: kisstherain    時間: 2008-1-2 17:36

I had the Bare Esscentuals starter kit but I was so disappointed... it makes my skin very oily after a very short time. (I feel like a teenager again) Gross! The foundation itself when applied on my face gives a very weird glow... I hated it. The color doesn't look right either... maybe I chose the wrong color?

I used Chanel Double Perfection before. It was very good but I left it in a hotel room.

I currenly use GA luminous silk foundation as well. It's ok but recently I've been skipping foundation and use only sunscreen and dust powder on top.

My friends in HK use another type of GA foundation - Hydra Glow - which is not available in Canada. I saw the result which is nothing too special so I am not sure if I should give it a try.

GA has a cream foudation in a big round pot with a brush. I have read good things about it. Anybody tried it?

See...that's the thing about mineral makeup....
even with out makeup artist, i know how to test color on my own to see if it's compatible or not... but when it's powder, i have no clue!

The GA cream foundation with big pot.... i think that's a more heavy coverage~ it's the Designer Shaping Cream Foundation.

aside from GA Luminous Silk, i use it with the sheer fluid... i have the bronze color one. it's a very good highlight~ since i have a light caramel skin color, it makes the glow from the foundation even more radiance~ i just blend a little bit of it on cheek bone & a bit on forehead...where the sun hits your face~

since GA foundation is so good, have anyone tried the Master Primer?
作者: kisstherain    時間: 2008-1-2 21:29

Yaya it's the Designer Shaping Cream Foundation I was talking about. But maybe when I get older...

I also use GA foundation with the fluid sheer... I use #7. Sometimes I mix a small  bit with the foundation (3:1). But then I have so many highlight stuff already (YSL Touche Eclat, Benefit Highbeam, DIORGLAM highlight powder etc...) I shouldn't have bought the fluid sheer in the first place (so expensive!)

My friend used the GA primer before. She said it's nothing special. She recommanded Smashbox primer to me but it's just silicone. I am using Cle de Peau primer now. I like it because there is no silicone and it has SPF.

Thanks!
how much is the Cle De Peau primer? right now i'm using Raycious super moist base.... & sometimes i use Kiss matte primer with whitening serum in it... my friend help me buy it in hk~
作者: cinderelly    時間: 2008-1-4 23:35

before i started using MU i did a bit of research and i think bare minerals isnt exactly the best MU out there. most ppl do complain that it's too shiny or that it makes them break out..~
that's why i've never tried it

How do you like Raycious super moist base? The name is very attractive! I am always on the quest for a good makeup base.
The Cle de Peau primer is C$85. I don't think I will repurchase because it's too expensive!

is covermark better than EL's double wear??
anyone know?
作者: Alcoholic    時間: 2008-2-14 09:17

Kiss:
the Raycious Moist Supply base is pretty good. it feels like cream.... and once you put it on, your skin absorbs it just like that!
Do you know if the Smashbox photo primer LIGHT...issit any better? or is it still silicone???

yayaya:
i don't know ar... i don't use much western brands

I've read Carmindy's book "5 Minutes Makeup".  She said that mineral powder are supposedly best for people with sensitive skin.  Except that it would look dry on people with dry skin.  So I guess the best thing is to prepare your face for it (clean, put lotion on), and the apply just a bit of the formula to cover the sites that are needed and blend it out.

So how do wlkm you like the result after trying it?
作者: kisstherain    時間: 2008-2-14 21:52

Alc, I searched for the ingredients of the photo primer LIGHT and here it goes:

Water (Aqua), Cyclopentasiloxane, Polysilicone-11, Butylene Glycol, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Carbomer, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Triethanolamine, Decyl Glucoside, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Hexylene Glycol, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Oligopeptide-10.

Well besides water (it claims to be 60% water), the 2 biggest ingredients are silicone stuff.
My friend's sis-in-law is a BA at Smashbox in Hong Kong. Of course she said the primer is very good  and she uses it too. I saw her a few times... gotta admit her face looks flawless!
