i see mine tooooo it's the one on the very right! =D

i'm kind of into arts and crafts too... i've never learned anything though =\
but i used modelling clay to make gifts for my hunny =D ho lang ga~
all the gifts that i handmade him still sits on his 窗台 by his bed ^^

I took lessons for 樹脂粘土 - 花.  But that was like long time ago.
For all the miniature food, I've learned them through books.  <= Bought a lot（破產）
I usually got my books from Yohan's Jap bookstore/online/ask my mom to get it for me in HK.
Sometimes I'll checkout youtube.  But usually they'll use Fimo/Filmo.

Fimo 係硬的. 要cai好内先軟同整完後要放入oven裏面bake.
而麵粉就唔洗bake. 就好似紙粘土那樣等風乾。如要加顔色, 就cai前加小小油彩上去。
Also樹脂黏土一打開時就係軟嘅！And個效果靚啲嘅！

No la.... Don't worry~~~
I'm not really sure for the English name.
Cuz it's a Japanese Clay.  The brands that I use are called "Grace" and "Lunar".
I don't think you can get it here in Michaels or other English craft stores.
U can find it in Parker Place.  But the price is really expensive. About $17-20/pkg.
If u're learning from teachers, they might sell it.
Well, I got mine in HK.  So it's cheaper than here for sure.

You can get some clay that's very light in weight in daiso. they are not as good quality but very cheap. The light weight clay is suitable for making breads, pastries, etc.

different clay has different texture for various effects. Grace, Luna, LaDoll are some examples of Japanese clay. Their cost are even more expensive now due to Jap $ gone up a lot lately!

Michaels sells polymer type clay only which either requires baking to harden or warm by body temperature to soften. All the clays are either good or bad, just for different purpose.

The strawberries, lemon, fruit canes are made with polymer clay. They are ready made and can be cut into slices. I don't recommand making them yourself coz they are very time consuming and for really advanced crafters. These canes are made and sold by one lady in England so they are quite costly. However, China had copied this lady's work and now selling for cheaper but of course, not as good craftsmenship la.

A couple of canes that you can make on your own and easy is probably lemon and kiwi. Lemon: Roll pale yellow clay into a cane. Wrap the cane with a very very thin layer of white. Wrap another thin layer of yellow on the outside. Poke the entire cane with very pointy toothpicks or needles. Let dry. Cut into slices. Use fine point white marker to draw on the lines like you see on cross section of citrus fruits.

Kiwi: Pale yellow clay into cane. Wrap with light green. Wrap with a slightly darker green. let dry, cut slices. Use very find black marker to dot in the seeds and veins.

* Make sure no air bubbles exist. Wrap very tightly between layers but not too tight to deform the canes. Make sure completely dry (3 days time is the best) before slicing.
These are simple to make. However, you need to practice and practice and practice! That's the difference between an ok job vs a very good job that you can say:"go ahead, look with a magnifying glass!!!" confidently.

I did the same thing too... But the result came out not good looking at all~~

By the way, I was shopping in Michaels the other day, they actually sell a kind of water call "Quick Water". There's actually 2 bottles inside. Same as AB膠. But the 2 bottles are really large. I 4got the price.

I think HK sellers buy this package then sell it in small bottles.
