A 13-floor apartment building under construction collapsed Saturday morning in Shanghai,killing one worker. Witnesses said the whole building started to fall down at about 5:30 am on Saturday and a 28-year-old worker surnamed Xiao from Anhui province was buried in the collapse and killed, the Xinhua news agency reported.

"據悉，大廈的南側正在挖建地下車庫，「很可能是挖得太深了，導致樓房的地基鬆垮了，房子就倒了。」現場有人猜測。也有人稱，淀浦河防汛牆前天出現七十多米塌方，也可能與該樓倒塌有關。當地建築專家表示，蓮花河畔景苑屬於流沙較嚴重的區域，從整棟樓倒塌的情形來看，最有可能是地基打樁不夠深。"

I just don't get it, after the school 豆腐渣工程 , people still dont get the seriousness of unsafe building? Look at the 樁 in the photo, they are so short and thin, how can they support the whole building with poeple let alone one without. Do business people in China only see money in their eyes and view people's life as nothing? So mad... I remember when I was touring Japan, the tour guide told us that Japanese always kept the good stuff in the country and rarely export them out in order to give the best to their own people, how come business people in China can only think of taking advantage of their own people?

棟樓係有問題﹐ 但未必係響D椿度。
唔係度度都可以打樁既。
列治文D十幾層柏文棟棟都無打過樁。

When that earthquake happened Taiwan some years ago, some buildings collapsed that way.
