Colour Lixxxx really sucks, selection is so poor that I have hard time trying to pick something worth to buy there(quality wise, not price),even they have TV commercial running all day long. Such a waste of space

ncix is a much much better traffic generator ...

most ncix customers have their stuff ordered online and just go there for pickup. walk-in traffic isn't a concern for ncix at all.

will they survive? it depends on the rent. if fairchild is desparate to get a traffic generator they should have provided a deep discount.

Qoola has opened on the first floor. Also I saw UCC coffee shop going to open at the old starbucks location.
I like Qoola and now I don't have to go DT to get one after dinner.
Hopefully the new coffee shop is good.

I don't think it is owned by Fairchild (at least not completely), I think moving there may be a good idea the store is a bit small now.

NCIX is a "large pipe", the owner has several different retailers under the same umbrealla.

Insider news tell me that NCIX is not FairChild, on the other hand, the computer store on 2nd floor is Fairchild.

Yep, 2nd floor comp store is part of fairchild. the store beside this to-be-ncix spot is closing too so ncix MAY BE taking up both spots.

ucc cafe is gonna take LOOK FOOK jewelry's spot too. pretty darn big for a coffe shop... LOOK FOOK is moving to luggage store's spot. luggage+living colour prob end up on 3rd floor, along wif the other crappy fairchild stores =)

NCIX runs a wholesale as well, call NX Source, they play all the way from wholesale to retail.

I thought their warehouse only supply to their own retail shops. But it seems they are getting bigger and also supply to other parts of the country.

NCIX has the following store-fronts:

NXSource, DirectCanada, Compu2000. They are also wholesaler for their nGear (which they rebrand some generic stuff).

NCIX in general is driven by volume, my rep at Ingram told me that NCIX can order over 50 HDD each day, which means they can have the volume prices even lower than what I can get at Ingram. There are also manufactuer's incentives/cash rebate. Like Seagate/WD will give $20 rebate if purchase 10 HDD at Synnex.

Business these days are driven by volume, profit is 2nd because if you can do the volume, manufacturer will pay you to sell their things.

The good thing about NCIX is that they indirectly drive components prices down in Canada, even cheaper than in US and HK. My friend asks me to get certain Intel CPUs and WD HDD here because it is far cheaper than HK.

Maybe it is already considered big volume by "Vancouver standard". I also heard from someone else saying the computer wholesalers rely one the cash rebate from manufactures for making the profits, not the margin they make on selling the products.

There are so many customers going to Aberdeen. You can park on the farther side of the parkade. Usually there are some vacant spaces.
