How do you renew the passport?

passport, How, renew
Is it easier to renew the passport? This is no need to find a guarantor now?

Do you need to have the passport photograph signed by somebody?
When going to the US, for 2-3 weeks, does the passport need to be valid for 6 months? I am thinking if we need to renew now.
