From other discussions from other forum, I conclude:

1.  it's not easy to get off contract.
2.  When your Internet is good, then the line is good; vice versa. (from one of their representative, who always blames bad line in your own Internet.)
3.  Do not use Shaw because your line will be bad.

from what I heard, if you use Shaw and use ITalkBB and if your connection is bad, they will tell you to switch to Telus.  

People have Telus and ITalkBB seems to have good review for it.

I use Shaw digital phone too and I am happy with it.

Yes, I use Shaw Internet too.  I love Shaw over Telus.

I'm using Shaw internet & iTalkBB. I'm not sure if it's because of the slow internet, the performance of iTalkBB is pretty bad...few days ago I just upgraded Shaw modem & will monitor if the phone ser ...

Most likely it will not.  The other forum has section of iTalkBB and one of their representative always advised people using shaw to switch to Telus becuase Telus uses dedicated line instead of Shaw using shared Internet...

From other people's experience:
Easy to sign up but difficult to cancel.
Often blamed on your Internet.  If you are using Shaw, a big NoNo.
