Cashier's ethic aside, consider the amount of customers coming in and out of RCSS in Metro, I wouldn't blame the cashier to let it go because 1) not all of them know about the department discount number on the ticket, 2) not all of them really care, 3) cashier's job is not LP, 4) Sometimes there are cheap deals like that.

RCSS has many undercover LP in busy stores like Marine Drive and Metrotown. Once people successfully does things like that, it won't be long before they will get caught and banned from RCSS for live.

Let's put it this way, when shrink from the store increase, the store will mostly like increase their prices to offset the losses from it.... so we all suffer if somene steals.

In my past days in RCSS, not just Chinese, E. Indian and even white people steals too.... Fortunately, Chinese people is so simple to deal with when they are caught. White and E. Indian on the other hand, always put up a scene and accused the store back. I've rarely seen police involved with Chinese shoplifters.

Doing price-check in places like Metro is just not possible without holding people up. Cashiers won't do price-check unless it is really needed (in my old days).

Just like Jim Patterson, the employees knows that Galen Weston is the 59th richest man in Forbes 2006. How many would really care about the company because they all get raised every 9 months and enjoyed all the benefits regardless of their performances?

RCSS PT employees get paid at least $10 to start + raises every 500-600 hours w/ full benefits after 90 days. They are probably one of the best in the grocery retail business.
