VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Another day, another processed-food recall to tell you about.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has its hands full, tracking down foods that may contain contaminated flavour enhancers.

Dietician Ramona Josephson says hydrolyzed vegetable protein is found in a wide variety of processed foods.

"It goes into soups, frozen dinners, salad dressings, chips, sauces, so now you're dealing with such a large range of manufactures, that the recall could be a mammoth task," she warns.

The food inspection agency says the protein with the problem is made by Basic Food Flavors, Inc in Nevada. It's been found to be contaminated with Salmonella, which can be deadly in children, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems.

The following foods are affected by the alert:

The fact that this contaminated hydrolyzed vegetable protein is used as an ingredient in a lot of processed food products in North America, more recall may come in the weeks to come. LYK should really keep an eye on this!
