Yeah that's my range too. I think $50 was the norm 10 years ago.

wah!! $2000 per table is expansive...I don't think it will cost that much even have it at the new "Market" restaurant.

How you check Kirin in city square (w12th & Cambie)? I went there for my friend's small banquet (8 tables) and the food was pretty good for the price.
For wine, we found reasonable red and white for her at BC Liquor Store. (white $10, red $13)

Yes it's illegal. It's a common practice in HK and in most states in US. My friends were surprised that it's not legal.
