專針對亞裔 警跨國調查 2009年5月15日
【明報專訊】上月底開始有「電話匪徒」針對本地市民，致電勒索1至2萬元，聲稱若不付款便會傷害事主。列市騎警更透露一名亞裔商戶，昨日險些「中招」付款2萬元，幸警方及時阻止，警方懷疑匪徒是越洋致電，現已展開跨國調查，呼籲市民接到類似電話後應立即報警。

龐德透露，這類案件並非僅發生在列治文市，根據警方掌握的資料，低陸平原、加東及美國，近來都有類似案件發生，而多倫多已有數十宗針對華商的電話勒索案件。

Someone already posted similar thing happened to their friend here before. I cannot find the old post. But lyk just be careful and report to police if you get this kind of call.

我都記得LYK talked about it before.
Yesterday, I got a phone call, and a woman said "你會說中文嗎？" in Mandarin.....  I was like, you call my cell phone, and you don't me in person? and I think of what LYK's about 電話匪徒, so 我扮唔識中文， just say hello? hello?  and hang up.
Dont know if she is one of the 電話匪徒, but she never call again..  so fishy

兩個星期內身邊已经有三個朋友遇到同樣事件，如果在香港已经拉人封艇，破案上法庭。在加拿大居然可以讓這種案件繼續發生。他們都已報警。在電話上已有來電顯示，為什么不可以追查到呢？

yeah, I got the same kind of phone calls almost once/twice a week....extremely annoying!!!  The caller id only shows "UNKNOWN", not even a proper phone number (ie. even long distance number will show up on the id, so that I could report to the police!!!)  Every time it's a woman who asked the same thing "你會說中文嗎？" in Mandarin, I just kept replying in English and said, "What?? hello....hello???" and hang up!  Hey, yoshi86, we did the same thing, but do you still keep receiving those annoying calls?

unknown phone number .......i listen, someone talking, automatic phone -  a guy talking
so i hang up, didn't hear what the person said

My phone plan doesn't include call display, so i dont know the number

係呀! 我都收過呢o的電話呀!! 頭幾次我用英文講話我唔識國語, 叫佢 remove me from the list, 如果唔係我會report 佢電話騷擾我, 對方好似聽唔明英文, 冇俾反應我, 我就收佢線~ 跟住第二日又call 返我, 好奇心驅使下我話我understand mandarin and then 睇下佢想點, 然後對方話佢係international travelling agent, 介紹o的promotion 俾我~ 我話我而家負資產, 爭緊銀行幾十萬, 之後對方就冇再打俾我....已經係一月的事了

Is it really true that HK would get these kind of things resolve quickly.??  I really wanna know if this is truely a fact?  Or you just think this way!?

The "do you speak mandarin" phone calls are from macau (or so they tell me)...they call EVERY NUMBER they can..in order Like I've said before, they are to promote some scam of you transferring $$ to them and they will send you to HK/Macau first class to see some charity show with big stars...

just keep saying "hello hello hello" and they will hang up.
