How likely is that when you are not hired after a reference check

likely, reference, check, How, hired
Just curious.... cuz they are doing my reference check now........I am just nervous and anxious....

How can I skillfully resign without starting fire with the company that I am going to quit?  It's hard to start to talk about it...
