you can use bb cream as makeup base or foundation. (bb cream then foundation for a fuller look) but for everyday use.. you can put that on without the foundation. but if your bb cream doesn't hv 防曬, then apply 防曬 first before bb cream

foundation gives you better coverage, so depends on what you need.  primer + foundation or bb cream only(if you trusted them)/otherwise, primer + bb cre ...

My challenge is oily skin with visible pores. I tried using BB cream all over the face and found it too thick. It seems to clog the pores and make the face even oilier.

maybe you got the wrong kind of bb cream for your skin type~ there's many bb cream for oily skin
