Ferber method, aka Cry it Out method, is not meant to be for such young babies.  It's generally for babies 6 months and older.

Before you try the cry it out method, make sure you understand the different type of cries that your baby makes (i.e. knowing when he/she is crying for attention or he/she is actually uncomfortable or even in danger).
