There also was the extensive use of image projection technology, projecting images onto the stage and other things coming up from the stage.
Many performances were also pre-recorded and then lip sync, but this is normal in any big show.
There was this part where some performers were wearing tight red outfits, with LED lights on the outside. In Beijing, there were performers wearing tight green outfits, with lights on them.
As for the mechanical malfunction, if it happened in Beijing, what would the western media say tomorrow morning?

This is another thing that they copied from Beijing. The mascots didn't appear in Beijing's opening ceremony. People don't know the reason why.
