溫哥華市中心周三晚的暴亂事件，引起廣泛關注。有人因為在自己的Facebook上，散播煽動暴動訊息，最後遭老闆「炒魷」。

因今次暴亂而失業的21歲青年麥爾維納（Connor Mcilvenna，圖），周三晚在自己一個Facebook公開群組上，廣傳有關暴動的訊息。同時，在網頁上附有他受聘公司名稱——位於三角洲的賴特科技建築公司（RiteTech Construction）。該公司事後收到逾百個投訴電郵，內容均指出，公司旗下一個員工，上載關於這次街頭暴動的訊息。

該公司老闆賴茨（Justin Reitz）透露，公司已經正式解僱任職木工的麥爾維納。他表示收到來自一般市民的超過100個電
郵和約20個來電。麥爾維納稍後已關閉了該個Facebook群組。

賴茨指出，儘管麥爾維納是一個好員工，但他的行為並不適當，由於造成很大破壞，因此無法令人接受。

他不能完全肯定麥爾維納當晚有沒有參與暴亂。但他先後收到大批電郵和個人意見，都是要求他辭退麥爾維納。
收到投訴後，賴茨隨即與麥爾維納討論這次事件。對於突然遭到解僱，麥爾維納表現得非常沮喪，並且聲稱從沒有直接參與當晚的街頭暴動。無論如何，賴茨忠告這個年輕人，必須為自己的所有言論負上責任。本報記者

Yup...Facebook is a broadcasting tool....Not a tool for you to talk to your friends.

I fired one of the PR girls .. for having thoughtless comments on FB...
